We report the observation of a π-type dipole-bound state (π-DBS) in cryogenically cooled deprotonated 9-anthrol molecular anions (9AT^{-}) by resonant two-photon photoelectron imaging. A DBS is observed 191 cm^{-1} (0.0237 eV) below the detachment threshold, and the existence of the π-DBS is revealed by a distinct (s+d)-wave photoelectron angular distribution. The π-DBS is stabilized by the large anisotropic in-plane polarizability of 9AT. The population of the dipole-forbidden π-DBS is proposed to be via a nonadiabatic coupling with the dipole-allowed σ-type DBS mediated by molecular rotations.

Background: While alterations in the vasculature supplying the breast have been extensively recorded, there is no information on the direct breast branches of the axillary artery (AA). An elucidation of the direct breast branches may prove beneficial during mammoplasty.
Objective: This study sought to investigate the anatomical characterization of breast vasculature utilizing three-dimensional (3D) technology to establish an anatomical foundation for therapeutic operations.

The case is an 80-year-old woman with Sjögren's syndrome. During the follow-up of multiple pulmonary nodules, an enlarged nodule was observed in the peripheral of the right S3 interlobar region. Fluorodeoxyglucose- positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) showed FDG accumulation only in the S3 nodule, which led to suspicion of primary lung cancer.

Back-scattered electron imaging and X-ray elemental mapping were combined in a tabletop scanning electron microscope (SEM) to investigate cross-sections of three AA-type (mignon) nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries from different manufacturers. All batteries underwent 500-800 charge/discharge cycles and reached their end of lifetime after several years as they could no longer hold any significant electric charge (less than 20% of nominal charge capacity), but none showed any short-circuiting. The types of degradation observed in this field study included electrode swelling, metallic nickel formation and carbon incorporation into pores in the positive electrodes and, in the negative electrodes, metal alloy segregation of different elements such as nickel, lanthanum and, in one case, sodium, as well as grain break-up and pore formation.

PIWI-like proteins contribute to the onset and progression of carcinogenesis. Whether single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the PIWI-like 1 (PIWIL1) gene affect the morbidity and mortality of gastric cancer (GC) remains unclear. To investigate the efficacy of PIWIL1 SNPs genotype on the morbidity and mortality of GC and its interaction within PIWIL1 gene SNPs variation and between elevated plasma glucose.

Unlabelled: Aspirin has gained great attention as a cancer preventive agent. Our previous study revealed that the low-dose aspirin prevents colorectal tumor recurrence in Japanese patients with colorectal adenomas and/or adenocarcinomas, whereas aspirin increases risks in smokers and has no effects on regular drinkers. Our recent study revealed that aspirin reduces polyp growth in Japanese patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).
