This article is a synopsis of a book created for the 50th anniversary meeting of the Western Trauma Association in February 2020. On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Western Trauma Association, a review of the organization's history, its contribution to trauma care and the development of leaders in the field, and its enduring unique culture reveals a vibrant association grounded in the values of its founders and well-positioned to continue successfully into the next 50 years.

Objective: To examine the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and intimate partner violence (IPV) among married couples in Nepal as well as the relationships among ACEs, IPV (psychological, sexual, physical), and psychological distress.
Method: The sample comprised the control group ( = 720) of a cluster randomized intervention trial among married women in Nepal. Interviewers assessed ACEs, IPV, quality of life, self-efficacy, and depressive symptoms among participants.

Its aetiology is unclear but thrombosis, trauma, infection or endocrine triggers have been proposed. We report the case of a 64-year-old female presenting with acquired AVH of the upper lip following oral herpes simplex virus infection.
