Background: Tacrolimus is an approved first-line immunosuppressive agent for kidney transplantations. Part of interindividual and interethnic differences in the response of patients to tacrolimus is attributed to polymorphisms at CYP3A5 metabolic enzyme. gene expression status is associated with tacrolimus dose requirement in renal transplant recipients.
Materials And Methods: In this study, we determined the allelic frequency of in 76 renal transplanted patients of Egyptian descent. Secondly, we evaluated the influence of the gene variant on tacrolimus doses required for these patients as well on dose-adjusted tacrolimus trough-concentrations.
Results: The variant was the most frequent allele detected at 85.53%. Additionally, our results showed that, mean tacrolimus daily requirements for heterozygous patients () were significantly higher compared to homozygous patients () during the first year after kidney transplantation.
Conclusion: This is the first study in Egypt contributing to the individualization of tacrolimus dosing in Egyptian patients, informed by the genotype.

Background: Gasdermin D (GSDMD) is a key effector molecule that activates pyroptosis through its N terminal domain (GSDMD-NT). However, the roles of GSDMD in colorectal cancer (CRC) have not been fully explored. The role of the full-length GSDMD (GSDMD-FL) is also not clear.

Background: Advancement in endovascular endografts have paved the way to the possibility of performing endovascular aortic arch repair in recent years. This has started to supersede the need for open aortic arch surgery. There remains a paucity of data looking into the quality of life comparison between open aortic arch surgery and endovascular aortic arch repair.

Objective: Bronchoscopy plays a critical role in the diagnosis and management of lung transplant recipients. We retrospectively evaluated the safety, complications, and efficacy of transbronchial biopsy (TBB) in detecting and grading early rejection.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively assessed the complications associated with TBB and the adequacy of pathological diagnoses in patients who underwent lung transplantation at Koşuyolu Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital from December 1, 2016, to April 30, 2023.

In emergency situations, timely contact with emergency medical communication centers (EMCCs) is critical for patient outcomes. Increasing call volumes and economic constraints are challenging many countries, necessitating organizational changes in EMCCs. This study uses a simulation-based digital twin approach, creating a virtual model of EMCC operations to assess the impact of different organizational scenarios on accessibility.

Human pluripotent stem cell-derived β-cells (SC-β-cells) represent an alternative cell source for transplantation in diabetic patients. Although mitogens could in theory be used to expand β-cells, adult β-cells very rarely replicate. In contrast, newly formed β-cells, including SC-β-cells, display higher proliferative capacity and distinct transcriptional and functional profiles.
