The incidence and mortality rate of nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are continuously increasing. Recently, the important roles of long noncoding ribonucleic acid (lncRNA) zinc finger antisense1 (ZFAS1) in the development of many disease have been proved. However, the roles of ZFAS1 in NSCLC are still not completely understood. Thus, this study aimed to explore the potential roles and underlying mechanisms of lncRNA ZFAS1 in the progression of NSCLC. Our results demonstrated that lncRNA ZFAS1 expression was significantly upregulated in NSCLC tissues and cell lines. Loss-of-function experiments revealed that lncRNA ZFAS1 inhibition could remarkably suppress NSCLC cells proliferation . Bioinformatic analysis and luciferase reporter assay revealed that lncRNA ZFAS1 directly interacted with miR-590-3p. Rescue experiments showed that miR-590-3p inhibitor reversed the cell proliferation function of lncRNA ZFAS1 knockdown . Furthermore, we confirmed that lncRNA ZFAS1 inhibited cell division cycle 42 (Cdc42) expression by regulating of miR-590-3p in NSCLC cells. Therefore, our study indicates that lncRNA ZFAS1/miR-590-3p axis is involved in NSCLC cell proliferation. It also suggests that lncRNA ZFAS1 is a putative tumor oncogene in NSCLC.

High levels of the N7 methylguanosine (m7G) methyltransferase WD repeat domain 4 (WDR4) are associated with the progression of multiple tumors, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Laryngeal cancer (LC) is the second most common malignant tumor of the head and neck. However, the role of WDR4 in LC remains unclear.

The diagnostic value and molecular mechanisms of LncRNA ZFAS1 in neuropathic pain.

Neurosci Lett

Department of Anesthesiology and Surgery, Shengli Oilfield Central Hospital, Dongying 257034, China. Electronic address:

Objective: Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) has been playing an increasingly significant role in neuropathic pain (NP). This study aimed to investigate the clinical significance and mechanism of LncRNA ZNFX1 antisense RNA 1 (ZFAS1) in NP.

Methods: 92 patients with NP and 85 healthy controls were enrolled, and a rat NP model was constructed by chronic constrictive injury (CCI).

Tooth development is an intricate process that encompasses cellular activities, molecular signaling pathways, and gene expression patterns. Disruptions in any of the processes can lead to structural anomalies, impairments in function, and increased vulnerability to oral disorders. Alveolar resorption, which refers to the pathological loss of alveolar bone around teeth, poses a substantial clinical problem in periodontal disorders such as periodontitis.

Objective: To probe the involvement of long noncoding RNA zinc finger antisense 1 (ZFAS1)/microRNA (miR)-186-5p axis in inhibiting oxidative stress in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) by targeting B-cell translocation gene 2 (BTG2).

Methods: The MIRI mice model was established by ligating the left anterior descending branch of the left coronary artery in C57BL/6 mice. The in vitro MIRI model was constructed by hypoxia and reoxygenation of HL-1 cardiomyocytes.

Article Synopsis
  • ZFAS1 is identified as an oncogenic long noncoding RNA that is upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and is associated with poor patient outcomes.
  • Inhibition of ZFAS1 leads to reduced HCC cell growth and promotes ferroptosis, while its overexpression has the opposite effect.
  • The study reveals a mechanism where ZFAS1 interacts with miR-150 to regulate AIFM2, a key protector against ferroptosis, highlighting a potential therapeutic target for HCC treatment.
