A novel, simple, sensitive and rapid spectrophotometric method for the determination of selenium(iv) in an acidic medium using rhodamine B hydrazide (RBH) has been developed. The method is based on the micellar mediated oxidation of RBH by Se(iv) in an acidic medium to produce a pinkish violet color of rhodamine B, which was monitored spectrophotometrically at λmax 585 nm. The sensitivity of the method was found to increase when the reaction was performed in a micellar medium. Beer's law was obeyed in the concentration range of 0.002-0.032 μg mL-1. The reaction variables such as time, temperature, reagent concentration, and acidity have been optimized for the reaction. Sandell's sensitivity and molar absorptivity for the reaction system were found to be 0.00004 μg cm-2 and 42.52 × 106 L mol-1 cm-1, respectively. The developed method was successfully applied for the determination of Se(iv) in several real samples with quantitative results.

Cisplatin-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy is first-line strategy to inhibit progression and metastasis of muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). However, its clinical efficacy is often limited by drug resistance and severe systemic side effects, highlighting the urgent need for innovative therapeutic approaches. Despite advancements in cisplatin-based regimens, research on intravesical cisplatin delivery systems remains scarce.

Constructing hierarchical superstructures through one-step bottom-up synthesis poses significant challenges due to strong interactions between additives and micelles, which hinders the formation of heterogeneous configurations. Here, we propose a high-temperature-mediated method to weaken these interactions and manipulate the thermal instability of micellar templates. This approach successfully synthesizes hierarchical superstructures that combine a carbonaceous nanosheet substrate with polyoxometalate (POM)-induced, highly ordered discontinuous nanodots in a single preparation step.

Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is an inevitable phase of many respiratory diseases with high mortality and limited effective treatments in the clinic. In PF, aberrant extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition is a significant pathological structural alteration that blocks intercellular crosstalk and hinders the deep penetration of therapeutics into lung tissues, reducing the effectiveness of conventional treatment strategies. Herein, a penetrating enhancer (Lipo) composed of thermosensitive liposome shells loaded with collagenase IV and micellar cores containing thioketal bonds encapsulated with curcumin and decorated with cyclic RGDfc, is developed to alleviate PF.

There is growing interest in the oral delivery of poorly permeable peptide drugs; however, the effect of biorelevant colloids found in the aqueous gastrointestinal environment on peptide drug solution behavior has been largely understudied. In this work, we detail the molecular level interactions between octreotide, a water-soluble macrocyclic peptide drug, and biorelevant colloids, i.e.

The supramolecular assembly of proteins into irreversible fibrils is often associated with diseases in which aberrant phase transitions occur. Due to the complexity of biological systems and their surrounding environments, the mechanism underlying phase separation-mediated supramolecular assembly is poorly understood, making the reversal of so-called irreversible fibrillization a significant challenge. Therefore, it is crucial to develop simple model systems that provide insights into the mechanistic process of monomers to phase-separated droplets and ordered supramolecular assemblies.
