Objectives: Autoantibodies mimicking alloantibodies (referred to as mimicking antibodies) are a type of specific antibody that reacts with all red blood cells, but exhibits a stronger reaction with red blood cells expressing the target antigens. This study aimed to explore immunohematologic methods for identifying mimicking antibodies, autoantibodies and alloantibodies, and to formulate safe transfusion strategies based on the results.
Methods: ABO, Rh blood types and direct antiglobulin test were determined using the tube saline method.

Background: RhD variants are categorized into partial D, weak D, and DEL. The detection of DEL can only be achieved through the adsorption and elution method or molecular techniques. Here, we report a case of DEL phenotypes associated with a novel allele in a Chinese individual.

Objective: To investigate the role of multiple serological methods in the identification of complex antibodies.
Methods: The blood group antigens were detected by saline and microcolumn agglutination methods. The saline method was used to screen and identify IgM-type antibodies in the patient's serum, while the polybrene, anti-globulin, microcolumn agglutination, enzymic and absorption-elution methods were used to screen and identify IgG-type antibodies.

Testing to detect ABO incompatibility between a donor and potential transfusion recipient is the foundation on which all other pretransfusion testing is based. Sometimes, weak agglutination reactions may be obtained with reagent antibodies due to weak expression of A and B antigens on red blood cell (RBC) surface which may cause a discrepancy in blood group typing. Here, we report a patient showing discrepancy between RBCs (forward) and serum (reverse) typing.

Rotaviruses are among the major causes of viral acute gastroenteritis in newborns and children younger than 5 years worldwide. The ability of rotaviruses to remain infectious in harsh environments as well as in the wastewater treatment process makes them one of the most prevalent enteric viruses. The current study aimed to determine the presence of rotavirus genomes and to analyze them phylogenetically in secondary treated wastewater (TW) samples.
