Coronaviridae (CoV) is a large family of zoonotic viruses linked to a range of diseases from the common cold to severe acute and Middle East respiratory syndrome CoV epidemics. In 2019, a novel virus emerged from Wuhan, China, and resulted in a marked worldwide outbreak of respiratory illness. Prevention and containment became the prioritized intervention against COVID-19, coupled with a continued search for hallmarks of the disease that would allow early detection and provide insight into management and triage. Cutaneous findings associated with COVID-19 include diffuse maculopapular rashes, livedo reticularis, and acro-ischemic "COVID toes." These skin findings occurred anywhere from days before respiratory symptom onset to weeks after recovery, and predominantly in child and adolescent populations. The role of dermatologists can be expanded during this COVID-19 pandemic to help identify disease through cutaneous presentations.

Adhesive joining has the severe limitation that damages/defects developed in the bondline are difficult to assess. Conventional non-destructive examination (NDE) techniques are adequate to reveal disbonding defects in fabrication and delamination near the end of service life but are not helpful in detecting and monitoring in-service degradation of the joint. Several techniques suitable for long-term joint integrity monitoring are proposed.

The Y-linked gene and its X-linked homolog survived the evolution of the human sex chromosomes from ordinary autosomes. encodes a multifunctional RNA helicase, with mutations causing developmental disorders and cancers. We find that, among X-linked genes with surviving Y homologs, is extraordinarily dosage sensitive.

This gives rise to diverse cellular arrangements which are undistinguished by conventional analysis approaches, such as transepithelial electrical resistance measurement or permeability assays. In this context, solid substrate-based systems with integrated electrodes and electrochemical impedance monitoring capability can address the limited spatiotemporal resolution of traditional porous membrane-based methods.

Ecdysozoan worms (Nematoida + Scalidophora) are typified by disparate grades of neural organization reflecting a complex evolutionary history. The fossil record offers a unique opportunity to reconstruct the early character evolution of the nervous system via the exceptional preservation of extinct representatives. We focus on their nervous system as it appears in early and mid-Cambrian fossils.

The breaking of inversion symmetry combined with spin-orbit coupling, can give rise to intrigu- ing quantum phases and collective excitations. Here, we report systematic temperature dependent Raman scattering and theoretical calculations of phonon modes across the inversion symmetry- breaking structural transitions in a quasi-one-dimensional compound (TaSe4)3I. Our investigation revealed the emergence of three additional Raman-active modes in Raman spectra of the low- temperature (LT) non-centrosymmetric (NC) structure of the material.
