A potential strategy to maintain the efficacy of carbapenems against carbapenemase-producing (CPKP) is their combination with carbapenemase inhibitors. To address these issues, the effectiveness of a novel combination of meropenem with avibactam against CPKP was studied. Additionally, the applicability of a pharmacokinetically-based approach to antibiotic/inhibitor minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determinations to better predict efficacy was examined.

The cerebellum, a key target of ethanol's toxic effects, is associated with ataxia following alcohol consumption. However, the impact of ethanol on Purkinje cell (PC) mitochondria remains unclear. To investigate how ethanol administration affects mitochondrial dynamics in cerebellar Purkinje cells, we employed a transgenic mouse model expressing mitochondria-targeted yellow fluorescent protein in Purkinje cells (PC-mito-eYFP).

Good oral hygiene is crucial during treatment with fixed appliances, emphasising the need for additional or alternative oral health methods during orthodontic treatment. This study investigates the effect of essential oil (EO)-based preparations on biofilm adhesion to orthodontic archwires. Five identical-sized orthodontic archwires of different materials were tested using therapeutic and preventive applications of essential oils.

Background: Type 1 diabetes is a serious, chronic disorder with an increasing incidence among children and adolescents. Glycemic control in individuals with type 1 diabetes is better managed through a basal-bolus regimen with either regular human or rapid-acting insulin analogues administered as a bolus at mealtimes. Rapid-acting insulin analogues have been hypothesized to cause optimal glycemic control and less risk of hypoglycemic episodes compared to regular human insulins.
