Aim: To investigate the detection and initial management of first psychotic episodes, as well as established schizophrenia, within the primary care of the Andalusian Health System.

Background: Delay in detecting and treating psychosis is associated with slower recovery, higher relapse risk, and poorer long-term outcomes. Often, psychotic episodes go unnoticed for years before a diagnosis is established.

Nanoparticles-Based Optical Chemosensors for Lead Acetate Sensing in Water: ZnO, ZnCeO, and ZnNdO.

J Fluoresc

January 2025

Materials Science Lab (1), Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt.

This study reports the synthesis, characterization, and optical properties of ZnO, ZnCeO, and ZnNdO nanoparticles and their interactions with lead acetate solutions. X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed that the nanoparticles were synthesized in a single-phase hexagonal structure, with crystallite sizes of 12.48 nm, 50.

Development of a CRISPR-Cas12a based assay for the detection of swine enteric coronaviruses in pig herds in China.

Adv Biotechnol (Singap)

February 2024

State Key Laboratory of Biocontrol, School of Life Sciences, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, 510006, China.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), Transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV), Porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) and Swine acute diarrhea syndrome coronavirus (SADS-CoV) rank among the most frequently encountered swine enteric coronaviruses (SECoVs), leading to substantial economic losses to the swine industry. The availability of a rapid and highly sensitive detection method proves beneficial for the monitoring and surveillance of SECoVs. Based on the N genes of four distinct SECoVs, a novel detection method was developed in this study by combining recombinant enzyme polymerase isothermal amplification (RPA) with clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)-associated proteins (Cas) 12a.

January 2025

Author Affiliations: Departments of Midwifery (Mr Fikadu), Internal Medicine (Dr Shibru), and Obstetrics and Gynecology (Drs Koira, Chufamo, and Mulugeta), and School of Public Health (Messrs Kote and Hailemariam and Dr Ayele), College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Arba Minch University, Southern Region, Arba Minch, Ethiopia; Ethiopia Midwives Association, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (Messrs Belgu and Mazengia); and Institute of Public Health, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Gondar, Amhara Region, Gondar, Ethiopia (Dr Ayele).

Purpose: This study was aimed to assess the effect of intermittent fetal heart rate (FHR) monitoring using Moyo Doppler compared with fetoscope in hospitals of Ethiopia, 2023.

Background: To facilitate more prompt identification of a hypoxic fetus, Laerdal Global Health has recently introduced the Moyo FHR monitor. Nevertheless, there exists limited knowledge regarding its efficacy derived from multicenter contextual trials conducted in resource-constrained environments, specifically in Ethiopia.

A Supramolecular Fluorescent Chemosensor Enabling Specific and Rapid Quantification of Norepinephrine Dynamics.

J Am Chem Soc

January 2025

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Green Chemistry and Chemical Processes, School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, East China Normal University, Dongchuan Road 500, Shanghai 200241, P. R. China.

Host-guest supramolecular fluorescence probes have garnered significant attention in the detection and sensing of bioactive molecules due to their functionalization potential, adjustable physical properties, and high specificity. However, such probes that reliably, rapidly, and specifically measure neurotransmitter dynamics at the cellular and in vivo level have yet to be reported. Herein, we present a supramolecular fluorescent chemosensor designed for norepinephrine (NE) detection, showing an exceptional response and specificity through host-guest complexation.
