The wide range, complex background, and small target size of aerial remote sensing images results in the low detection accuracy of remote sensing target detection algorithms. Traditional detection algorithms have low accuracy and slow speed, making it difficult to achieve the precise positioning of small targets. This paper proposes an improved algorithm based on You Only Look Once (YOLO)-v3 for target detection of remote sensing images. Due to the difficulty in obtaining the datasets, research on small targets for complex images, such as airplanes and ships, is the focus of research. To make up for the problem of insufficient data, we screen specific types of training samples from the DOTA (Dataset of Object Detection in Aerial Images) dataset and select small targets in two different complex backgrounds of airplanes and ships to jointly evaluate the optimization degree of the improved network. We compare the improved algorithm with other state-of-the-art target detection algorithms. The results show that the performance indexes of both datasets are ameliorated by 1-3%, effectively verifying the superiority of the improved algorithm.

Lead-free inorganic halide perovskites, specifically BaPX (X = Cl, F, I, Br) have gained attention in green photovoltaics due to their remarkable mechanical, optical, structural, and electronic properties. Using first-principles calculations, we investigated the mechanical, electronic, and optical characteristics of BaPX, revealing direct band gaps at the -symmetry point, assessed with the PBE and HSE functionals. The charge distribution analysis shows strong ionic bonding between Ba and halides and covalent bonding between P and halides.

Mechanical force is an essential feature for many physical and biological processes, and remote measurement of mechanical signals with high sensitivity and spatial resolution is needed for diverse applications, including robotics, biophysics, energy storage and medicine. Nanoscale luminescent force sensors excel at measuring piconewton forces, whereas larger sensors have proven powerful in probing micronewton forces. However, large gaps remain in the force magnitudes that can be probed remotely from subsurface or interfacial sites, and no individual, non-invasive sensor is capable of measuring over the large dynamic range needed to understand many systems.

Environmental factors lead mainly to the uncertainty of gross primary productivity estimation in most light use efficiency (LUE, ε) models since the simple physical formulas are inadequate to fully express the overall constraint of diverse environmental factors on the maximum ε (ε). In contrast, machine learning has the natural potential to detect intricate patterns and relationships among various environmental variables. Here, we presented a hybrid model (TL-CRF) that utilizes the random forest (RF) technique to incorporate various ecological stress factors into the two-leaf LUE (TL-LUE) model, meanwhile, seasonal differences in the clumping index (CI) on a global scale are considered to adjust seasonal patterns of canopy structure.

Purpose: This study aims to develop a deep learning methodology for quantitative assessing adenoid hypertrophy in nasopharyngoscopy images and to investigate its correlation with the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) in pediatric patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Patients And Methods: A total of 1642 nasopharyngoscopy images were collected from pediatric patients aged 3 to 12 years. After excluding images with obscured secretions, incomplete adenoid exposure, 1500 images were retained for analysis.
