Surfactants are used in various applications: cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, environmental, etc. Many of these compounds are polydisperse, and because of this intrinsic polydispersity, it is essential to have a universal detector with a uniform response to quantify them in a simple way. Indeed, Charged Aerosol Detector (CAD) was presented as a universal detector with a uniform response. Thus, in the present study, the CAD response, in a High-Performance Liquid Chromatography - CAD configuration (HPLCCAD), was evaluated using purified alcohol ethoxylated surfactants. A semi-preparative liquid chromatography step using a Hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) bare silica column (150 mm, 4.6 mm, 2.6 µm) was implemented to prepare eleven homologues of BrijC10, a nonionic surfactant. These homologues differed only by the number of ethylene oxide units. BrijC10 homologues were analyzed by HPLCCAD, using a HILIC bare silica column (150 mm, 2.1 mm, 2.6 µm) to determine the HPLCCAD response factors of purified homologues. From the calibration curves (from 100 to 500 mg.kg), their response factors were estimated: differences in response factors were observed and a maximum difference in response factors of 3.6 was obtained. Thus, it could be concluded that CAD hyphenated to HILIC separation did not present a uniform response for this homologue's distribution.

Parent-led cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an efficient, promising form of therapy that may be well suited for autistic youth with anxiety disorders. A recent clinical trial found that parent-led CBT - in which parents led their child through a guided CBT workbook with varying degrees of therapist support - was efficacious for reducing anxiety and associated functional impairment. While such findings demonstrate promise for future intervention development and dissemination efforts with this population, more work is needed to elucidate clinical factors that impact response to treatment as well as drop-out.

The main pathogenic mechanism of HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) is neuronal apoptosis induced by inflammatory mediators, in which microglial inflammation plays a crucial role. However, the exact pathogenic mechanism remains unclear. Previous studies have shown that the HIV-1 gp120 V3 loop can trigger inflammation in CHME-5 microglia.

Background: PhotoVoice - a series of workshops involving participatory photography and narrative-building - was employed in the rural town of Comerío, Puerto Rico (PR) to describe disaster recovery in a rural setting and foster policy dialogue.
Methods: Using PhotoVoice workshops and ethnographic observations, the project describes how women affiliated with a local community-based organization described the priorities for disaster recovery in visual images and narratives. We draw analytically upon theories of intersectionality and coloniality to describe socio-structural and community factors that shape community health in the context of ongoing disasters.

Objectives: Platelet transfusion refractoriness (PTR) is a frustrating clinical problem, and primary and persistent (P/P) PTR who experienced persistent PTR since the first transfusion was failed to be well recognized. This study aims to investigate the incidence and risk factors for P/P PTR.
Methods: Patients with hematologic disorders who underwent HLA high-resolution genotyping and donor-specific HLA antibody or panel reactive antibody (PRA) testing between January 2019 and March 2023 were reviewed.

Objective: To develop and assess the psychometrics of the Chronic Headache Self-Efficacy Scale (CHASE).
Background: Existing scales assess self-efficacy in coping strategies and management of symptoms and triggers but do not measure other important self-efficacy domains, such as performing daily activities and socializing in patients with chronic daily headache (CDH).
Methods: The study had two phases: (i) Development of the 14-item CHASE, with items derived from patients with CDH and a multidisciplinary healthcare team; (ii) longitudinal observational study for psychometric evaluation.
