Three hexapod-shaped PDI-hexamers (PSM1, PSM2, and PSM3) with a diphenylmethylene-bridged triphenylamine (TPA) core and six peripheral PDI subunits have been designed and synthesized. The influence of different peripheral PDI subunits on the morphology and crystallinity of acceptors is investigated. Distinctly different from the previously reported PDI trimers with a TPA core, which exhibit amorphous morphologies, these hexapod-shaped acceptors display improved crystallinities and photophysical properties. Our studies have shown that PSM3 with six peripheral thiophene-fused PDI subunits gives the best result. The as-cast blend films of PBDB-T and PSM3, which possess appropriate phase separation and higher crystallinity, show high and balanced charge mobilities. As expected, OSCs with PBDB-T:PSM3 as the active layer achieve the highest power conversion efficiency of 6.71% among these three acceptors, which is the highest one in TPA-based acceptors and one of the best for the as-cast OSCs based on PDI derivatives.

Helicenes exhibit promise as active layer materials for circularly polarized light (CPL) detectors due to their strong chiroptical activity. However, their practical application is limited by the complicated synthesis and loosely solid-state packing. This study introduces a chiral induction strategy towards the synthesis of helicene derivatives, chiral tetrachlorinated diperylene diimides (()-4CldiPDI or ()-4CldiPDI).

Microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTP) plays crucial roles in the assembly and secretion of apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins and loss of function MTP variants are associated with abetalipoproteinemia, a disease characterized by the absence of these lipoproteins. MTP is a heterodimeric protein of two subunits, MTP and protein disulfide isomerase (PDI). In this study, we report a proband with abetalipoproteinemia who was monitored annually over a period of ten years in her third decade and had very low plasma lipids and undetectable apoB-containing lipoproteins.

Herein, we report the synthesis of a novel carbaporphyrin incorporating perylene diimide (PDI) and dipyrromethane units. The twisted plane of the PDI subunits imbues carbaporphyrin with intriguing conformational chirality and stable chiroptical properties. Both experimental and theoretical studies reveal that the unique properties arise from the rigidly conjugated macrocyclic architecture and the reduced interchromophoric distance.

Rabies virus causes an estimated 59,000 annual fatalities worldwide and promising therapeutic treatments are necessary to develop. In this study, affinity tag-purification mass spectrometry was employed to delineate RABV glycoprotein and host protein interactions, and PDIA3/ERP57 was identified as a potential inhibitor of RABV infection. PDIA3 restricted RABV infection with follow mechanisms: PDIA3 mediated the degradation of RABV G protein by targeting lysine 332 via the selective macroautophagy/autophagy pathway; The PDIA3 interactor, AP3B1 (adaptor related protein complex 3 subunit beta 1) was indispensable in PDIA3-triggered selective degradation of the G protein; Furthermore, PDIA3 competitively bound with NCAM1/NCAM (neural cell adhesion molecule 1) to block RABV G, hindering viral entry into host cells.

Sarcocystis are Apicomplexan protozoa with a dixenous life cycle that includes a predator and a prey as definitive and intermediate hosts, respectively. Domestic and wild pigs are intermediate hosts of S. suihominis, with formation of sarcocysts in their muscles, while humans and non-human primates act as final hosts.
