Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), with its rising prevalence rates is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular and thromboembolic events. Antiplatelets and/or anticoagulants agents are often prescribed but the literature on the impact of long-term anticoagulation and/or antiplatelet use among patients hospitalized with IBD is scarce. The aim of this study is to assess the outcomes of patients hospitalized with IBD on antiplatelet and/or anticoagulant agents.

Objective: Antiplatelet and/or anticoagulant therapy are commonly prescribed after fenestrated/branched endovascular aortic repair (F/BEVAR). However, the optimal regimen remains unknown. We sought to characterize practice patterns and outcomes of antiplatelet and anticoagulant use in patients who underwent F/BEVAR.

(1) Background: Neuroendovascular procedures have generally been considered to have minor or inconsequential blood loss. No study, however, has investigated this question. The purpose of this study is to quantify the blood loss associated with neuroendovascular procedures and identify predictors of blood loss, using hemoglobin change as a surrogate for blood loss.

Objective: External ventricular drain (EVD) placement is a common neurosurgical procedure that can be performed at bedside. A frequent complication following EVD placement is catheter-associated hemorrhage (CAH). The hemorrhage itself is rarely clinically significant but may be complicated in patients taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet (AC/AP) medications.

Introduction: Around 20% of population in western countries is under anticoagulant treatment. However, there is paucity of evidence about the treatment of HD in patients under anticoagulant/antiplatelet therapy, although both suspension and continuation in the perioperative period may increase the risk of severe complications. The aim of this pilot study was to confirm the feasibility and safety of sclerobanding (Combined Rubber Band Ligation with 3% Polidocanol Foam Sclerotherapy), an office-based procedure, for the treatment of second-and third-degree HD in patients under anticoagulant/antiplatelet therapy without suspension.
