Introduction: Cardiac surgery patients often need inotropic support to establish hemodynamic stability and adequate oxygen supply. The management of patients with coronary vascular disease can be challenging especially in patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction and critical left main or severe triple vessel disease.
Methods: Article has descriptive character and presents a case report of 58 years old male patient who was admitted to our hospital due to planned coronary bypass surgery.
Results: Applying inotropic support, IABP and adequate volume management during surgery and post surgery period in ICU has led to hemodynamic stability. Leading to the recovery of the patient and hospital discharge.
Discussion: Given the availability of the treatment options, inotropic and mechanical support played a major role to produce the positive outcome in the presented case. Many factors were unfavourable, extreme hypotension, high lactate and creatining levels, mechanical ventilation and related complications.

Characterizing individual muscle behavior is crucial for understanding joint function and adaptations to exercise, diseases, or aging. Shear wave elastography (SWE) is a promising tool for measuring the intrinsic material properties of muscle. This study assessed the passive and active shear modulus of the triceps surae muscle group in 14 volunteers (7 females, 25.

Introduction: One of the most prevalent healthcare-associated infections in the pediatric intensive care unit is ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). VAP not only results in prolonged hospital and intensive care unit (ICU) stays but also imposes higher costs on patients and the healthcare system. Therefore, it is essential to implement preventive measures.

Frailty is increasingly being recognized as a risk factor for adverse outcomes in older surgical patients undergoing surgery. We investigated the association between frailty and intraoperative complications using multiple frailty assessment tools in older patients undergoing elective intermediate- to high-risk non-cardiac surgery. This retrospective cohort study included 637 older patients scheduled for elective non-cardiac surgery.

In maximally Ca-activated demembranated fibres from the mammalian skeletal muscle, the depression of the force by lowering the temperature below the physiological level (~35 °C) is explained by the reduction of force in the myosin motor. Instead, cooling is reported to not affect the force per motor in Ca-activated cardiac trabeculae from the rat ventricle. Here, the mechanism of the cardiac performance depression by cooling is reinvestigated with fast sarcomere-level mechanics.

Introduction And Objectives: Despite advances in mechanical circulatory support, mortality rates in cardiogenic shock (CS) remain high. A reliable risk stratification system could serve as a valuable guide in the clinical management of patients with CS. This study aimed to develop and externally validate a risk prediction model for in-hospital mortality in CS patients using machine learning (ML) algorithms.
