Social health inequity and multimorbidity are strongly associated. This review investigates how it is done through different and complex pathways of which the majority is outside the healthcare system. However, in modern healthcare systems, the increased investment in single, specialised diagnosis-oriented guideline-based treatment without additional primary care investments, may increase the inequity for those with lower social position and multimorbidity.
