Background: The use of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), including e-cigarettes, vape pens, hookah pens, e-cigars, and e-pipes, has grown in popularity worldwide, particularly among young individuals. However, these products are not without risks, as their emissions may contain harmful substances such as diacetyl (a flavoring agent linked to specific pulmonary problems in high concentrations), tobacco-specific nitrosamines, and volatile organic compounds with unknown long-term effects on lung health.

Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the prevalence of ENDS use among school and college students on a global scale.

Introduction: In December 2022, a California law banned the retail sale of most flavored tobacco products (including e-cigarettes). This investigation evaluates adolescents' use of flavored tobacco before and after enactment.

Methods: The Teens Nicotine and Tobacco Project included online surveys of California adolescents (age 12-17) in 2022 (N=5127) and 2023 (N=5015) that assessed past 30-day use of various tobacco products, flavored product use, and perceived access to flavored e-cigarettes.

Smoking is one of the leading causes of chronic non-communicable diseases and a significant risk factor for cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. While global tobacco consumption has decreased over the past two decades, the use of e‑cigarettes and water pipes (shisha) has surged at an alarming rate, particularly among younger individuals. E‑cigarettes do not offer a completely risk-free alternative to traditional cigarettes, as the vast array of flavors and ease of use contribute to a growing number of dependent users.

Towards the nicotine addiction challenge in the smoking of hookah pipe products, we hereby present the development of an electrochemical sensor for nicotine detection. A nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheet (N-CNS)/poly(amidoamine) dendrimer (PAMAM) nanocomposite-modified electrode was prepared as a sensor for the detection of nicotine in analytical and real samples. The N-CNSs were prepared by a hydrothermal method and dropcast on a glassy carbon electrode followed by electro-deposition of the PAMAM dendrimer to form the sensor (GCE/N-CNSs/PAMAM).

Flavorings are one of the major appealing factors of current tobacco products, especially for young adults. They constantly evolve, and new flavorings are introduced to the market every year, but little is known about user profiles of flavored tobacco products (FTPs). We analyzed young adult (ages 18-24) tobacco product users ( = 4,707) from Wave 5 of the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health Study.
