Optically active β-amino alcohols are very useful chiral intermediates frequently used in the preparation of pharmaceutically active substances. Here, a novel cyclohexylamine oxidase (ArCHAO) was identified from the genome sequence of Arthrobacter sp. TYUT010-15 with the R-stereoselective deamination activity of β-amino alcohol. ArCHAO was cloned and successfully expressed in E. coli BL21, purified and characterized. Substrate-specific analysis revealed that ArCHAO has high activity (4.15 to 6.34 U mg protein) and excellent enantioselectivity toward the tested β-amino alcohols. By using purified ArCHAO, a wide range of racemic β-amino alcohols were resolved, (S)-β-amino alcohols were obtained in >99 % ee. Deracemization of racemic β-amino alcohols was conducted by ArCHAO-catalyzed enantioselective deamination and transaminase-catalyzed enantioselective amination to afford (S)-β-amino alcohols in excellent conversion (78-94 %) and enantiomeric excess (>99 %). Preparative-scale deracemization was carried out with 50 mM (6.859 g L ) racemic 2-amino-2-phenylethanol, (S)-2-amino-2-phenylethanol was obtained in 75 % isolated yield and >99 % ee.

Introduction: IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is one of the most prevalent forms of glomerulonephritis worldwide, particularly affecting 40-50% of the East Asian population. Cardiovascular mortality represents a leading cause of death in patients with IgAN. Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) serves as a predictor of heart failure and cardiovascular mortality.

Sodium valproate- a salt of valproic acid (VPA), is an anticonvulsant used in the treatment of epilepsy and a range of psychiatric conditions that include panic attacks, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, migraine and bipolar disorder etc. VPA can cause direct damage to many tissues due to accumulation of toxic metabolites. Nowadays, phytochemicals are amongst the best options for the treatment of diseases.

Background: Adolescent alcohol use is the norm, but only some develop a substance use disorder. The increased risk might reflect heightened mesocorticolimbic responses to reward-related cues but results published to date have been inconsistent.
Methods: Young social drinkers (age 18.

Background: One trait of alcohol use disorder (AUD) is continuing to drink despite negative consequences. The current study investigated initial/early aversion-resistant drinking (ARD) across selectively bred alcohol-preferring lines to assess aversion resistance with minimal ethanol history and subsequent ethanol-seeking and drinking profiles. Additionally, ARD was assessed in alcohol-preferring and non-preferring rats using a sucrose reinforcer to determine if ARD may be a genetic risk factor for AUD.
