A one-step process combining the photocatalytic degradation of radionuclide complexes and the adsorption of liberated radionuclides on titanium dioxide nanotubes was developed and tested for the purification of aqueous waste produced from chemical decontamination of nuclear power plant circuit components. Among the tested forms of TiO, only nanotubes exhibit both high photocatalytic activity and sorption ability, which support their application in a one-step purification process. The obtained results indicate that the photocatalytic degradation of complexes followed by the sorption of the radionuclides onto TiO nanotubes offers a promising route for treating spent decontamination fluids.

This study focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of the photocatalytic efficiency of bismuth-based metal-organic frameworks (Bi-MOFs) and their derivatives, specifically Ag/Bi-MOF and NH /Ag/Bi-MOF, in the degradation of tetracycline (TC) and sulfamethoxazole (SMX) under visible light irradiation. Bi-MOFs are promising photocatalysts due to their large surface area, tunable porosity, and unique electronic properties that are favorable for visible light absorption. In this study, Bi-MOFs were synthesized using a solvothermal method, with the incorporation of silver (Ag) and ammonium (NH ) ions to enhance their photocatalytic performance.

The widespread use of antibiotics has led to significant water pollution. Photocatalysis can effectively degrade antibiotics, but the performance is greatly limited by the photogenerated carrier recombination in the photocatalytic material g-CN. Constructing heterojunctions can enhance interfacial charge transfer, leading to more stable and efficient photocatalysis.

Composite photocatalysts based on metal nanoparticles and functional polymers attract much attention compared to inorganic photocatalysts. In this study, a reusable magnetite/anion exchanger (FeO/PPE-2) functional material is synthesized by a hydrothermal method, and its photocatalytic activity is evaluated for the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB). The results from materials characterization confirm a well-defined morphology of magnetic FeO/PPE-2 functional material and the formation of FeO nanocrystals with different shapes and sizes on the surface of anion exchange material (PPE-2).

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown significant potential in the photocatalytic activation of peroxydisulfate (PDS). Although many MOFs have been investigated for their ability to activate PDS, the impact of structural interpenetration on this process remains underexplored. In this study, MIL-88D(FeNi) and MIL-126(FeNi) were selected to systematically study this effect.

This study investigates the synthesis, characterization, and functional properties of well-aligned zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires (NWs) obtained by a two-step hydrothermal method. ZnO NWs were grown on silicon substrates precoated with a ZnO seed layer. The growth process was conducted at 90 °C for different durations (2, 3, and 4 h) to examine the time-dependent evolution of the nanowire properties.
