We conducted systemic assessments on the toxicity of silicon dioxide (SiO) and titanium dioxide (TiO) nanoparticles using different forms of normal colon cells (CCD-18Co), in vivo and in human colon organoids. The in vivo acute oral toxicity data showed that the LD values are greater than 2000 mg/kg for both the SiO and TiO nanoparticles; however, the SiO and TiO nanoparticles induced cytotoxicity in two-dimensional CCD-18Co cells and three-dimensional CCD-18Co spheroids and human colon organoids, with IC values of 0.6, 0.8 and 0.3 mM for SiO and 2.5, 1.1 and 12.5 mM for TiO nanoparticles, respectively. The data suggest that, when SiO and TiO are in nanoparticle form, cytotoxicity is induced; thus, care should be taken with these materials.

Consumption of contaminated wines is a significant source of ochratoxin A (OTA) intake in humans, yet existing techniques for OTA removal are inadequate. This study constructs a TiO/SiO/g-CN catalyst (TiSiMs-TCN) with a tubular structure, capable of efficiently removing OTA from both simulated and real wines under visible light irradiation. The results of experiments, characterizations, and theoretical calculations demonstrate that the incorporation of silica enhances the adsorption capacity for OTA, and the tubular structure improves the catalyst's photoelectric properties.

Phthalocyanine-sensitized TiO significantly enhances photocatalytic performance, but the method of phthalocyanine immobilization also plays a crucial role in its performance. In order to investigate the effect of the binding strategy of phthalocyanine and TiO on photocatalytic performance, a dual-pathway study has been conducted. On the one hand, zinc-tetra (-carbonylacrylic) aminephthalocyanine (Pc) was directly grafted onto the surface of FeO@SiO@TiO (FST).

Significant progress has been made through the optimization of modelling and device architecture solar cells has proven to be a valuable and highly effective approach for gaining a deeper understanding of the underlying physical processes in solar cells. Consequently, this research has conducted a two-dimensional (2D) perovskite solar cells (PSCs) simulation to develop an accurate model. The approach utilized in this study is based on the finite element method (FEM).

Despite the broad catalytic relevance of metal-support interfaces, controlling their chemical nature, the interfacial contact perimeter (exposed to reactants), and consequently, their contributions to overall catalytic reactivity, remains challenging, as the nanoparticle and support characteristics are interdependent when catalysts are prepared by impregnation. Here, we decoupled both characteristics by using a raspberry-colloid-templating strategy that yields partially embedded PdAu nanoparticles within well-defined SiO or TiO supports, thereby increasing the metal-support interfacial contact compared to nonembedded catalysts that we prepared by attaching the same nanoparticles onto support surfaces. Between nonembedded PdAu/SiO and PdAu/TiO, we identified a support effect resulting in a 1.

Study of Interfacial Reaction Mechanism of Silicon Anodes with Different Surfaces by Using the In Situ Spectroscopy Technique.

The interfacial reaction of a silicon anode is very complex, which is closely related with the electrolyte components and surface elements' chemical status of the Si anode. It is crucial to elucidate the formation mechanism of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) on the silicon anode, which promotes the development of a stable SEI. However, the interface reaction mechanism on the silicon surface is closely related to the surface components.
