Background: Ovarian steroid cell tumor, not otherwise specified (NOS), is a rare type of sex cord stromal tumor, which often presents with androgenic symptoms and has a high frequency of malignancy.
Case: This is a case of a 14-year-old Native American girl who presented with acne, amenorrhea, and virilization and was found to have a 2.9-cm solid ovarian mass. Initial pathology revealed steroid-appearing cells with round nuclei, clear/vacuolated cytoplasm, and a low mitotic index. Final diagnosis was ovarian steroid cell tumor, NOS Stage IA. A laparoscopic left salpingo-oophorectomy was subsequently performed. No tumor recurrence was noted 2 years after her initial diagnosis.
Summary And Conclusion: Long-term data on these tumors are limited; however, malignancy, recurrence, and death have been reported. This suggests that close follow-up is essential for appropriate management.

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is one of the most important methods for treating a wide range of hematologic malignancies and bone marrow failure diseases. However, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), a major complication associated with this method, can seriously affect the survival and quality of life of patients. Acute GVHD (aGVHD) occurs within 100 days after transplantation, and gastrointestinal aGVHD (GI-aGVHD) is one of the leading causes of nonrecurrent death after allo-HSCT.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) was first described in the early 1990s. Initially a rarity, it is now the most common cause of dysphagia for solid foods in young adults. Its prevalence is estimated to be 1:2000.

Purpose: To elucidate the mechanical properties of the bovine lens cortical membrane (CM), the nuclear membrane (NM) containing cholesterol bilayer domains (CBDs), and whole bovine lenses.
Methods: The total lipids (lipids plus cholesterol) from the cortex and nucleus of a single bovine lens were isolated using the monophasic methanol extraction method. Supported CMs and NMs were prepared from total lipids extracted from the cortex and nucleus, respectively, using a rapid solvent exchange method and probe-tip sonication, followed by the fusion of unilamellar vesicles on a flat, freshly cleaved mica surface.

Ram sperm are more vulnerable to freezing than those of most other farm animals. During sperm freezing, the cell membrane loses some of its cholesterol, which regulates signalling mechanisms and prevents premature capacitation. Resveratrol (RES) increases the fluidity of the cell membrane, which becomes peroxidized during freezing and reduces free radicals.
