A fifty-year-old healthy, Portuguese male, with prior history of paraffin injections into the penis 30 years ago, was referred for urological consultation because of a large, hardened ulcerated mass on the base of the penis causing deformity and pain. The patient underwent a biopsy that showed a benign granulomatous lesion, and then excision of the mass and penile plasty with a scrotum flap in the same surgical time. Histology confirmed the diagnosis of paraffinoma. Three months after surgery, the patient is satisfied with the functional (urinary function and erectile function) and aesthetic results. Penile paraffinoma is a rare disease (most common in Asia and Eastern Europe) and results from an inflammatory response to the subcutaneous injection of paraffin, Vaseline or other mineral oils. Treatment is usually surgery.

Penile and scrotal lymphedema is characterized by an abnormal retention of fluid in the subcutaneous tissue of the penis and scrotum, due to a deficiency in lymphatic drainage, causing edema, pain, dysuria and sexual dysfunction. The present report describes a patient with a giant penile and scrotal lymphedema after syphilitic infection, treated by excision of all the compromised skin and subcutaneous cellular tissue, with primary reconstruction with partial skin autograft and flap rotation. Literature review showed good functional results (erections and ejaculation) with the use of techniques that resected the skin and subcutaneous tissue and reconstructed the penis using skin grafts.

The Temminck's pangolin (Smutsia temminckii) is one of eight pangolin species worldwide and the only pangolin present in southern Africa. Historically, pangolins have not been able to reproduce successfully in captivity and this may be in part due to the lack of knowledge and understanding with regards to the pangolin reproductive system (anatomy, physiology, biology) in all eight species. This original study describes the gross anatomy of the male Temminck's pangolin from three adult individuals investigated.
