Osteosarcoma of the skull has poor outcomes. This case report describes the presentation and clinical course of a patient who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the skull involving the cribriform plate. After her initial diagnosis, she developed esotropia with severe unremitting headaches. She received palliative radiation, followed by chemotherapy, and responded well. Her initial symptoms involving the cranial nerves subsided, and her response was sustained. This report illustrates the need to effectively treat osteosarcoma of the skull despite its reported poor outcomes.

To study the feasibility and efficacy of pericranial flaps for the repairs of large anterior skull base defects. The average length of the pericranial flaps needed for skull base repair was determined with computed tomography measurements in 20 adults and anatomical dissections in 5 cadaver specimen. A series of patients who underwent endoscopic skull base surgeries and subsequent reconstructions with pericranial flaps at the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine Affiliated Sixth People's Hospital from 2016 to 2022 were retrospectively reviewed.

Ewing sarcoma is a very common type of malignant bone tumor among children and adolescents that most frequently develops in long bones of the body and extremities; however, it can also affect other bones such as the skull and scapula in rare cases. In Ewing sarcoma, the most common sites of metastasis are the lungs and bones, which indicates a late stage of the disease and is considered a poor prognostic factor. In this paper, we report the case of a 10-year-old boy presenting with a painless swelling on his left shoulder that was not associated with other local or systemic symptoms, and with no neurological manifestations.

Background: Ewing sarcoma (ES) of the ethmoid sinus with orbital involvement in an adult is very rare, with 16 reported cases in the literature. Immunohistochemical studies show small blue round cells positive for CD99 and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) testing reveals positivity for the EWSR1 gene.
Methods: A 38-year-old male with a diagnosis of ES of the ethmoid sinus presented with left-sided periorbital pain and edema, rhinorrhea, and proptosis.

Background/aim: To investigate the feasibility of establishing a mandibular osteosarcoma model in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats using tissue block transplantation, providing a foundational model for osteosarcoma research.
Materials And Methods: Fourteen male SD rats, 3 weeks old and SPF grade, were randomly divided into a control group (n=4) and a mandibular osteosarcoma group (n=10). Using tissue block transplantation, UMR106 cell-induced tumor tissues were transplanted subcutaneously into the left mandibular marrow cavity of the SD rats.
