Outcomes in Catheter Ablation of Sustained Ventricular Tachycardia in Myocarditis Compared with Ischemic Heart Disease.

Rev Cardiovasc Med

January 2025

Arrhythmia Center, Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, 100037 Beijing, China.

Background: The substrates for arrhythmias in myocarditis and ischemic heart disease (IHD) are different, but it is yet to be determined whether there is a difference in outcomes following catheter ablation (CA) for ventricular tachycardia (VT) associated with these two conditions. This study aimed to compare outcomes after CA of VT in patients with myocarditis versus those with IHD.

Methods: Patients undergoing CA for sustained VT confirmed by endomyocardial biopsy as myocarditis, and patients with IHD experiencing sustained VT undergoing CA were retrospectively enrolled from February 2017 to March 2023.

Myocardial Inflammation in Cardiac Transthyretin Amyloidosis: Prevalence and Potential Prognostic Implications.

Circ Heart Fail

January 2025

Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Deutsches Herzzentrum der Charité, Berlin, Germany (M.L.M., U.L., B.H., D.M., A.B., I.M., S.S.).

Background: Despite previous histopathologic evidence for its presence, the role of myocardial inflammation in the development and progression of cardiac transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR-CA) remains insufficiently understood. Thus, this study sought to characterize the prevalence and potential prognostic implications of myocardial inflammation in ATTR-CA.

Methods: A retrospective observational study including patients with ATTR-CA diagnosed by endomyocardial biopsy was conducted.

Elevated Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio Predicts Prognosis in Acute Myocarditis.

JACC Heart Fail

January 2025

King's College London British Heart Foundation Centre of Excellence, School of Cardiovascular Medicine and Sciences, London, United Kingdom; King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London, United Kingdom. Electronic address:

Background: Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an easy-to-use inflammatory biomarker. Baseline NLR is independently associated with incident cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality. However, whether this applies to acute myocarditis (AM) has not been evaluated.

Introduction: To assess the short-term and long-term outcomes of percutaneous endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) in patients with myocarditis and to identify the risk factors for EMB-related complications in this patient population.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 294 hospitalized patients with clinically suspected myocarditis at Tongji Hospital from October 2019 to October 2023, with a median follow-up duration of 18 months. Patients were divided into an EMB group (n = 151) and a non-EMB group (n = 143) based on whether they underwent EMB procedure.
