Coinfections with porcine circovirus types 2, 3, and 4 (PCV2, PCV3, and PCV4) are increasingly being detected in the swine industry. However, there is no commercially available vaccine which prevents coinfection with PCV2, PCV3, and PCV4. The development of a vaccine expressing capsid (Cap) fusion proteins of multiple PCVs represents a promising approach for broadly preventing infection with PCVs.

This study explores the development and characterization of spray-dried composite microparticles consisting of levofloxacin (LVX, a broad-spectrum antibiotic), and ambroxol (AMB, a mucolytic agent that has antibacterial and antibiofilm properties), for the intended application of the drug against lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs). A range of LVX to AMB mass ratios (1:1, 1:0.5, and 1:0.

Resuspended particles from human activities can contribute to pathogen exposure via airborne fomite contamination in built environments. Studies investigating the dissemination of resuspended viruses are limited. The goal of this study was to explore viral dissemination after aerosolized resuspension via human activities on indoor flooring.

Liquid biopsy (LB) involves the analysis of circulating tumour-derived DNA (ctDNA), providing a minimally invasive method for gathering both quantitative and qualitative information. Genomic analysis of ctDNA through next-generation sequencing (NGS) enables comprehensive genetic profiling of tumours, including non-driver alterations that offer prognostic insights. LB can be applied in both early-stage disease settings, for the diagnosis and monitoring of minimal residual disease (MRD), and advanced disease settings, for monitoring treatment response and understanding the mechanisms behind disease progression and tumour heterogeneity.

Despite the increasing number of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) cases in recent years, its impact on neonatal outcomes and respiratory morbidity, as well as the underlying pathogenetic mechanism, has not yet been extensively studied. Moreover, no study has yet demonstrated the effectiveness of antenatal corticosteroid therapy (CT) for the prevention of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) in newborns of mothers with PAS at the molecular level. In this regard, microRNA (miRNA) profiling by small RNA deep sequencing and quantitative real-time PCR was performed on 160 blood plasma samples from preterm infants (gestational age: 33-36 weeks) and their mothers who had been diagnosed with or without PAS depending on the timing of the antenatal RDS prophylaxis.
