Identifying and quantifying the dominant factors influencing heavy metal (HM) pollution sources are essential for maintaining soil ecological health and implementing effective pollution control measures. This study analyzed soil HM samples from 53 different land use types in Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, China. Pollution sources were identified using Absolute Principal Component Score (APCS), with 8 anthropogenic factors, 9 natural factors, and 4 soil physicochemical properties mapped using Geographic Information System (GIS) kernel density estimation.

Bacterial Leaf Blight (BLB) usually attacks rice in the flowering stage and can cause yield losses of up to 50% in severely infected fields. The resulting yield losses severely impact farmers, necessitating compensation from the regulatory authorities. This study introduces a new pipeline specifically designed for detecting BLB in rice fields using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) imagery.

Significance: The precise identification and preservation of functional brain areas during neurosurgery are crucial for optimizing surgical outcomes and minimizing postoperative deficits. Intraoperative imaging plays a vital role in this context, offering insights that guide surgeons in protecting critical cortical regions.

Aim: We aim to evaluate and compare the efficacy of intraoperative thermal imaging (ITI) and intraoperative optical imaging (IOI) in detecting the primary somatosensory cortex, providing a detailed assessment of their potential integration into surgical practice.

Overview of Effects of Motor Learning Strategies in Neurologic and Geriatric Populations: A Systematic Mapping Review.

Arch Rehabil Res Clin Transl

December 2024

Research Centre for Nutrition, Lifestyle and Exercise, School of Physiotherapy, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Health, Heerlen, The Netherlands.

Objective: To provide a broad overview of the current state of research regarding the effects of 7 commonly used motor learning strategies to improve functional tasks within older neurologic and geriatric populations.

Data Sources: PubMed, CINAHL, and Embase were searched.

Study Selection: A systematic mapping review of randomized controlled trials was conducted regarding the effectiveness of 7 motor learning strategies-errorless learning, analogy learning, observational learning, trial-and-error learning, dual-task learning, discovery learning, and movement imagery-within the geriatric and neurologic population.

Long-read sequencing reveals novel genetic polymorphisms in the major histocompatibility complex region and their impacts on the Han Chinese population.

Sci China Life Sci

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Genetic Engineering, Lab for Evolutionary Synthesis, School of Life Sciences, Human Phenome Institute, Fudan University, Shanghai, 200438, China.

Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genes in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) region are crucial for immunity and are associated with numerous diseases and phenotypes. The MHC region's complexity and high genetic diversity make it challenging to analyze using short-read sequencing (SRS) technology. We sequence the MHC region of 100 Han Chinese individuals using both long-read sequencing (LRS) and SRS platforms at approximately 30X coverage to study genetic alterations and their potential functional impacts.
