High-performance MXene-based polymer nanocomposites are highly desirable for diverse industry applications due to their exceptional mechanical, thermal and other properties. Nevertheless, it remains an intractable challenge to create flame retardant polymer/MXene nanocomposites due to the difficulty to achieve uniform dispersion of MXenes. Here, we reported a facile strategy for the surface manipulation of two-dimensional titanium carbide nanosheets (TiCT) with 3-aminopropylheptaisobutyl-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (AP-POSS) (POSS-TiCT) through electrostatic interactions. The POSS-TiCT is steadily dispersed in many polar solvents. Upon incorporated into polystyrene (PS), the combined effect of AP-POSS and MXene makes the resultant PS nanocomposites exhibit significantly improved thermal and thermoxidative stability, e.g. 22 °C and 39 °C increases in the temperature at 5 wt% mass loss under nitrogen and air, respectively. Meanwhile, a 39.1 % reduction in the peak heat release rate, a respective 54.4 % and 35.6 % reduction in the peak CO production rate and the peak CO production rate was achieved, which are superior to those of its own and previous counterparts. This outstanding fire safety is attributed to the combination of adsorption, catalytic and barrier effects of POSS-TiCT. Hence, as-designed functionalized MXenes can be effectively applied in PS to formulate multifunctional polymer nanocomposites attractive for wide potential applications.

Research Center of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, College of Science, Shanghai University, Shanghai 200444, P. R. China.

Flexible nanocomposites incorporating nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) hold significant promise for thermal management applications. However, their heat dissipation performance is primarily constrained by the interfacial thermal resistance (). In this work, 1-pyrenemethylamine hydrochloride (PyNH) noncovalent functionalized graphene subsequently self-assembled with NFC through a vacuum-assisted filtration technique.

A novel electrochemical aptasensor based on bimetallic zirconium and copper oxides embedded within mesoporous carbon (denoted as ZrOCuO@mC) was constructed to detect miRNA. The porous ZrOCuO@mC was created through the pyrolysis of bimetallic zirconium/copper-based metal-organic framework (ZrCu-MOF). The substantial surface area and high porosity of ZrOCuO@mC nanocomposite along with its robust affinity toward aptamer strands, facilitated the effective anchoring of aptamer strands on the ZrOCuO@mC-modified electrode surface.

In the present study, a novel voltammetric sensor based on a boron-doped copper oxide/graphene (B-CuO-Gr) nanocomposite and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was developed for the detection of paclobutrazol (PAC) in apple and orange juice samples. The B-CuO-Gr nanocomposite was prepared using sol-gel and calcination methods. After modifying glassy carbon electrodes with the B-CuO-Gr nanocomposite, PAC-imprinted electrodes were prepared in the presence of 100.

The evolution of display technologies is rapidly transitioning from traditional screens to advanced augmented reality (AR)/virtual reality (VR) and wearable devices, where quantum dots (QDs) serve as crucial pure-color emitters. While solution processing efficiently forms QD solids, challenges emerge in subsequent stages, such as layer deposition, etching, and solvent immersion. These issues become especially pronounced when developing diverse form factors, necessitating innovative patterning methods that are both reversible and sustainable.
