Introduction: The goal was to assess individuals' weight changes and their connections with depressive symptoms, optimism and physical activity.
Method: 4379 Spanish citizens, 16-84 years, participated.
Results: Most participants declared no weight changes. Males, young and obese individuals had greater weight variability. Depressive symptoms were linked to larger weight changes. Optimism and MVPA followed a descending pattern from ≥-3 kg. MVPA minutes/week and fulfilling physical activity recommendations were inversely associated to weight changes.
Conclusion: The COVID-19 confinement impacted individuals' weight, expanding depreobesity to include weight loss. Optimism and physical activity seemed to be "protective elements".

Background: Cholesterol efflux capacity (CEC) of HDL (high-density lipoprotein) is inversely associated with incident cardiovascular events, independent of HDL cholesterol. Obesity is characterized by low HDL cholesterol and impaired HDL function, such as CEC. Bariatric surgery, including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) and sleeve gastrectomy (SG), broadly leads to improved cardiovascular outcomes, but impacts on risk factors differ by procedure, with greater improvements in weight loss, blood pressure, and glycemic control after RYGB, but greater improvements in HDL cholesterol and CEC levels after SG.

The consequences of walnut ( L.) leaf scorch (WLS) were studied using the cultivated varieties, Wen185 ( 'Wen 185') and Xinxin2 ( 'Xinxin2') in the Aksu region, Xinjiang, China. Photosynthetic parameters and indoor chemical analysis were used to determine the variations in photosynthetic characteristics, osmotic regulatory substances, antioxidant enzyme activities, and changes in fruit yield and quality between diseased and healthy leaves.
