There is a need to increase improve the delivery of health care for sexual minorities. The lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community has historically experienced bias, discrimination, and perceived inadequate or inappropriate care. Reduction of this barrier can begin by providers addressing implicit bias and creating a welcoming, safe environment for all persons seeking care. Using preferred name and pronouns and obtaining a sexual health history that is individualized and free from assumption is imperative.
