This systematic review aims to assess the efficacy of light therapy on behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), cognition, functional status, and quality of life in older adults with cognitive impairment; and secondarily, to identify the optimal characteristics of light therapy to establish an adequate protocol for its clinical application. We searched Web of Science and Medline databases through December 2019, resulting in 36 included articles: 3 evaluated the effects on BPSD, 25 on sleep, 12 on agitation, 10 on mood, 4 on neuropsychiatric symptoms, 4 on cognition, 2 on quality of life and 2 on functional status. Literature has shown potential evidence for positive effects of light therapy on managing sleep, behavioural and mood disturbances in people with cognitive impairment, but a limited effect on cognition, quality of life and functional status. This review provides guidelines for intervention protocols with light therapy in older people with cognitive impairment.

Recent advances in oncology research have highlighted the promising synergy between low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT) and immunotherapies, with growing evidence highlighting the unique benefits of the combination. LDRT has emerged as a potent tool for stimulating the immune system, triggering systemic antitumor effects by remodeling the tumor microenvironment. Notably, LDRT demonstrates remarkable efficacy even in challenging metastatic sites such as the liver (uveal) and brain (cutaneous), particularly in advanced melanoma stages.

The primary objective of this study was to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the mechanism by which TCF7 recombinant protein operates, as well as to examine its expression patterns within bladder cancer cells. This research seeks to establish a new theoretical framework and provide experimental data that could advance the field of molecular targeted therapy for bladder cancer. Erlotinib, a well-known targeted therapy drug, was administered to the bladder cancer cells, and we evaluated its antitumor effects through various assays such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, and cell cycle analysis.

The secondary near-infrared region (NIR-II) fluorescence imaging-guided photothermal therapy (PTT) offers a noninvasive and light-controllable treatment option for deep-seated cancers. However, the development of NIR-II photothermal agents (NIR-II PTAs) that possess the desired properties of high molar absorption coefficient (ε), fluorescence quantum yield (QY), and photothermal conversion efficiency (PCE) remain a challenge due to the contradiction between radiative and nonradiative processes.
