Coumarin derivatives are a class of compounds with a pronounced wide range of applications, especially in biological activities, in the medicine, pharmacology, cosmetics, coatings and food industry. Their potential applications are highly dependent on the nature of the substituents attached to their nucleus. These substituents modulate their photochemical and photophysical properties, as well as their interactions in their crystalline form, which largely determines the final field of application. Therefore, in this work a series of mono and dihydroxylated coumarin derivatives with different chemical substituents were synthesized and characterized by UV-Visible spectroscopy, thermal analysis (differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and TGA), H NMR and X-Ray Diffraction to identify limitations and possibilities as a function of the molecular structure for expanding their applications in polymer science.

AE90015 is a highly specific and effective negative allosteric modulator (NAM) for the human mGlu5 receptor, showing significant promise for treating Parkinson's disease. An in vivo rat oral dose study was conducted on AE90015, which involved the collection of urine and bile samples over a 24 h period. At the study's endpoint, plasma, liver, brain, and renal tissues were also collected.

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), such as 2,2',3,5',6-pentachlorobiphenyl (PCB95), are persistent organic pollutants associated with adverse health outcomes, including developmental neurotoxicity. PCB95 is a chiral neurotoxic PCB congener atropselectively metabolized to potentially neurotoxic metabolites in vivo. However, the metabolic pathways of most PCB congeners, including PCB95, remain unknown.

Methyltrienolone (17β-hydroxy-17α-methylestra-4,9,11-trien-3-one) is one of the anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The biotransformation of methyltrienolone is performed in vitro by human hepatocytes microsomes. Both phase I and phase II experiments are investigated.

Rieske non-heme iron oxygenases are ubiquitously expressed in prokaryotes. These enzymes catalyze a wide variety of reactions, including cis-dihydroxylation, mono-hydroxylation, sulfoxidation, and demethylation. They contain a Rieske-type [2Fe-2S] cluster and an active site with a mono-nuclear iron bound to a 2-His carboxylate triad.

Polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) are associated with an increased risk of thyroid cancer; however, relevant mechanistic studies are lacking. In this study, we investigated the mechanisms underlying PBB-induced human thyroid cancer. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics methods were employed to investigate the metabolism of PBBs by the cytochrome P450 enzyme under aryl hydrocarbon receptor mediation into mono- and di-hydroxylated metabolites.
