This study was conducted to ivnestigate the associations of and gene polymorphisms with milk somatic cell count (SCC), electrical conductivity (EC) and pH levels in Holstein dairy cows. For this purpose, 167 blood and 1670 milk samples of 167 Holstein cows in their 2nd lactation were used. There were significant relationships between I genotypes and milk EC ( < 0.001) and between I genotypes and milk EC ( = 0.007), but there were not any significant relationships between gene polymorphism and the investigated traits ( 0.05). The greatest EC values were observed in I-LV and TT-genotyped individuals. Just because of association of EC with mastitis, it was concluded that present I and I polymorphisms could be used in further studies to be conducted to improve mastitis resistance and milk quality traits of Holstein dairy cows.

The hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1 alpha) is a major regulator of adaptive response to hypoxia, common in patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In addition, HIF-1 alpha regulates the expression of the most important proteins necessary for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection of cells. The study included 129 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Dementia is a comprehensive term that refers to illnesses characterized by a decline in cognitive memory and other cognitive functions, affecting a person's overall ability to operate. The exact causes of dementia are unknown to this day. The heterogeneity of Alzheimer's indicates the contribution of genetic polymorphism to this disease.

While the gluten-free diet (GFD) is primarily used to treat celiac disease (CD), recent research suggests it may also offer benefits for autoimmune-related diseases (ARDs), though findings remain inconsistent. This study aimed to investigate the potential protective effect of a GFD against ARDs by Mendelian Randomization (MR) analysis. Utilizing data from over 500,000 samples from the UK Biobank and other publicly available genome-wide association studies (GWAS), MR analysis revealed a significant negative causal relationship between GFD and the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis (RA) (OR = 0.

Carcinogenesis often involves significant alterations in the cancer genome, marked by large structural variants (SVs) and copy number variations (CNVs) that are difficult to capture with short-read sequencing. Traditionally, cytogenetic techniques are applied to detect such aberrations, but they are limited in resolution and do not cover features smaller than several hundred kilobases. Optical genome mapping (OGM) and nanopore sequencing [Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT)] bridge this resolution gap and offer enhanced performance for cytogenetic applications.

Biochemical recurrence (BCR) is a critical concern in prostate cancer management; however, its underlying genetic determinants remain poorly understood. The () gene family is involved in cellular detoxification and biosynthetic processes and has been implicated in various cancers. This study investigated the association between the family members and prostate cancer recurrence.
