Delirium is a neuropsychiatric syndrome commonly presenting during acute illness. The pathophysiology of delirium is unknown, but neuroinflammation is suggested to play a role. In this cross-sectional study, we aimed to investigate whether cell-free DNA and markers of neutrophil extracellular traps in serum and CSF were associated with delirium and neuronal damage, assessed by neurofilament light chain.

Objectives: To investigate the levels of plasma neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) and free thiols, the latter reflecting systemic oxidative stress (OS), and to explore the relationship between NETs and OS in quiescent systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients with and without renal involvement.
Methods: Plasma levels of NETs and free thiols were measured cross-sectionally in 100 SLE patients with low disease activity (SLEDAI < 5), of whom 73 patients had no renal involvement (non-LN) and 27 patients had lupus nephritis (LN). Additionally, 22 healthy controls (HCs) were included.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is associated with pronounced systemic inflammation, and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are key components of this response. The primary objective of this study was to establish an NET-related scoring system for patients with HBV-ACLF. A prospective training cohort of 81 patients from the Beijing Ditan Hospital was included.

Background: Interleukin-6-receptor inhibition with tocilizumab improves myocardial salvage in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Reduced levels of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), which consist of nuclear material studded with proteins released upon neutrophil activation, might contribute to this effect.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of tocilizumab on NETs and investigate the association between NETs and myocardial injury in patients with STEMI.
