Inconsistent documentation of large-volume paracentesis (LVP) procedures in a tertiary hospital presents risks to patient safety and procedural quality. This study aimed to improve the completeness and accuracy of LVP documentation through the implementation of a structured checklist, developed in alignment with the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) Safety Toolkit. The intervention was conducted over three Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles and involved multidisciplinary collaboration, the integration of Local Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (LocSSIPs) into the Clinical Record System (CRS), and targeted training for staff.

Objective:  This study aimed to evaluate the severity of liver fibrosis in chronic liver disease patients using aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio index (APRI), fibrosis-4 (FIB-4), FibroScan, and the Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) score. It emphasized assessing fibrosis progression toward cirrhosis (F4 stage) and exploring the correlation between non-invasive markers and the CTP score for liver function and prognosis.

Methodology: This observational cross-sectional study was conducted over one calendar year in the Department of Medicine at Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College, Gorakhpur, India.

Computed tomography findings of idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease subtypes.

J Clin Exp Hematop

December 2024

Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University, Okayama, Japan.

This study retrospectively evaluated the computed tomography (CT) findings of idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD) at a single center and compared the CT findings of iMCD-TAFRO with those of iMCD-non-TAFRO. CT images obtained within 30 days before diagnostic confirmation were reviewed for 20 patients with iMCD (8 men and 12 women, mean age 52.8 ± 12.

Purpose: Exploring the computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET)/CT Multimodal Imaging Characteristics of Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT) to enhance the diagnostic proficiency of this condition.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on clinical data and multimodal imaging manifestations (CT, MRI, FDG-PET/CT) of eight cases of DSRCT. These findings were systematically compared with pathological results to succinctly summarize imaging features and elucidate their associations with both clinical and pathological characteristics.

Single-Cell RNA Sequencing of PBMCs Identified Junction Plakoglobin (JUP) as Stratification Biomarker for Endometriosis.

Int J Mol Sci

December 2024

Endometriosis & Gynaecological Oncology Laboratory (EndoGO), Department for Biomedical Research (DBMR), University of Bern, Murtenstrasse 35, 3008 Bern, Switzerland.

This study aimed to identify unique characteristics in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of endometriosis patients and develop a non-invasive early diagnostic tool. Using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), we constructed the first single-cell atlas of PBMCs from endometriosis patients based on 107,964 cells and 25,847 genes. Within CD16 monocytes, we discovered as a dysregulated gene.
