In this review, we discuss primary central nervous system lymphomas: a rare type of tumours confined to the central nervous system. The disease is associated with a poor prognosis, which, however, generally has seen steady improvement over the last four decades, particularly in the younger population. Modern surgical techniques are reserved for diagnosis and has no place in the treatment, which mainly relies on high-dose polychemotherapy treatment regimes with methotrexate as the backbone.

Primary cutaneous amoebiasis is rare, and typically affects immunocompromised patients and presents with unique clinical and histopathologic changes. Untreated, the infection could progress to involve the central nervous system, which is almost universally fatal. We present a case of primary cutaneous acanthamoebiasis in a patient with chronic lymphocytic leukemia on acalabrutinib.

Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) disables more than a third of its sufferers. Recent research has focused on optimizing the antitubercular regimen, mainly by increasing the dosage of rifampicin. However, pyrazinamide, with higher penetration into the central nervous system, is generally overlooked.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a central nervous system degenerative disease with a stealthy onset and a progressive course characterized by memory loss, cognitive dysfunction, and abnormal psychological and behavioral symptoms. However, the pathogenesis of AD remains elusive. An increasing number of studies have shown that oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) and oligodendroglial lineage cells (OLGs), especially OPCs and mature oligodendrocytes (OLGs), which are derived from OPCs, play important roles in the pathogenesis of AD.

The tumor immune microenvironment (TiME) of human central nervous system (CNS) tumors remains to be comprehensively deciphered. Here, we employed flow cytometry and RNA sequencing analysis for a deep data-driven dissection of a diverse TiME and to uncover noncanonical immune cell types in human CNS tumors by using seven tumors from five patients. Myeloid subsets comprised classical microglia, monocyte-derived macrophages, neutrophils, and two noncanonical myeloid subsets: CD3 myeloids and CD19 myeloids.
