Introduction: Young adulthood is well documented as being a particularly challenging area of type 1 diabetes (T1D) healthcare. Many young adults with T1D (YAT1D) are distracted from effective disease self-management; T1D healthcare service engagement can be problematic and inconsistent, and high rates of unplanned healthcare contacts prevail. Background: Outcomes following surgery to operatively manage extremity fractures are variable, and up to two-thirds of patients report chronic post-surgical pain. Preliminary evidence suggests that psychotherapy directed at improving coping skills and reducing somatic vigilance may improve outcomes among fracture patients. The objective of this pilot study was to test the feasibility and acceptability of a randomized controlled trial comparing an online cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) program versus usual care in patients with an operatively managed open or closed extremity fracture.

Neuromuscular blocking agents are a common cause of perioperative hypersensitivity. The sensitivity and specificity of skin tests and in vitro tests in this context have not been determined conclusively, which poses a barrier to accurate diagnosis. Use of challenge testing represents a promising development in this field and a key tool in confirming tolerance to an alternate neuromuscular blocking agent for use in future anaesthesia.
