Background/aim: We retrospectively investigated the relationship between pathological complete response (pCR) and tumor volume (TV) reduction during neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy (NACRT) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Patients And Methods: We evaluated patients who received NACRT (50 Gy/25 fractions with platinum-doublet) plus surgery for NSCLC. TVs before and during NACRT (TV and TV, respectively) were measured based on the sums of the volumes of primary tumors and clinically positive lymph nodes. Relative change in TV was computed as % (TV - TV)/TV Results: In total, 31 patients were analyzed. The median of the relative change in TV was - 49% and ranged from -83 to -10%. Postoperatively, pCR was achieved in 11 patients (35%). In multivariate analysis, the relative change in TV was found to be an independent predictor of pCR (p=0.003).
Conclusion: TV reduction during NACRT appears to be associated with pCR in NSCLC.

Objective: To evaluate the postoperative complications and prognosis of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in a solitary kidney after irreversible electroporation (IRE).
Materials And Methods: A total of 8 patients with 9 RCCs in a solitary kidney treated with computed tomography (CT)-guided IRE from February 2017 to September 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Follow-up included contrast-enhanced CT or magnetic resonance imaging examinations at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, and each year after IRE and the evaluation of the incidence of postoperative complications, renal function changes, local tumor recurrence, and metastasis.

Forests have the potential to contribute significantly to global climate policy efforts through enhanced carbon sequestration and storage in terrestrial systems and wood products. Projections models simulate changes future in forest carbon fluxes under different environmental, economic, and policy conditions and can inform landowners and policymakers on how to best utilize global forests for mitigating climate change. However, forest carbon modeling frameworks are often developed and applied in a highly disciplinary manner, e.

One of the goals of clinical pharmacology is to optimize patient treatment by adopting new treatment strategies which will increase the efficacy of the treatment and decrease the adverse effects of the drugs. In the literature, it has shown that the effectiveness and toxicity of medications can vary significantly based on when they are administered, making timing a crucial factor in treatment plans. Chronopharmacology a relatively new branch of clinical pharmacology focuses on adjusting drug administration times to enhance patient outcomes.

Background: Contrary to the impact of screening, the effect of long-term surveillance on the quality of life of patients with an abdominal aortic aneurysm is not well known. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe patient-reported outcomes of patients with an abdominal aortic aneurysm approaching the surgical threshold.
Methods: This multicentre, observational cohort study included patients with an abdominal aortic aneurysm with a maximum aneurysm diameter of greater than or equal to 40 mm.

Measles virus (MeV) is a highly contagious respiratory virus transmitted via aerosols. To understand how MeV exits the airways of an infected host, we use unpassaged primary cultures of human airway epithelial cells (HAE). MeV typically remains cell-associated in HAE and forms foci of infection, termed infectious centers, by directly spreading cell-to-cell.
