Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic has reignited the debate on effective leadership during a crisis. The study examined healthcare leaders' experiences, challenges and responses amid the COVID-19 crisis in India and the USA.
Design/methodology/approach: Thematic analysis culminated in developing a thematic framework that encapsulates the behavior of operational healthcare leaders in India and the USA to illustrate how they responded to the global pandemic.
Background: Companies recently identified clinical study sites engaging in fraudulent practices, reducing success in Alzheimer's disease (AD) clinical trials. Successful trials are reliable despite possible victimization by these practices because these sites introduce a negative bias. Ease of simulating Alzheimer's diagnosis documentation (based on clinical or blood markers) and clinical outcome data, coupled with inadequate oversight by Contract Research Organizations (CROs), facilitates deceptive practices.

Background: Cognitive impairment is frequently undetected or undiagnosed in the early stages. To increase the rates of detecting cognitive impairment, the Early Detection program of the Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative System Preparedness (DAC-SP) implemented digital cognitive assessments (DCA) in primary care and other non-specialty settings.
Methods: The DAC-SP Early Detection program was initiated in 2021 in seven healthcare systems across six countries.

Objective: People living with chronic pain increasingly use medical cannabis for symptom relief. We conducted a retrospective cohort study examining cannabis for chronic pain relief using anonymous archival data obtained from the medicinal cannabis tracking app, Strainprint®.
Method: We acquired cannabis utilization data from 741 adults with chronic pain and used multilevel modeling to examine the association of age, sex, type of pain (muscle, joint or nerve pain), cannabis formulation (high CBD, balanced CBD:THC, or high THC), route of administration (inhaled or ingested), cannabis use before vs.

Purpose: The aim of the retrospective, single-center study was to assess the prognostic value of immune cell-based and albumin-based ratios regarding lethal outcome in critically ill COVID-19 patients.
Patients And Methods: We analyzed 612 adult critically ill COVID-19 patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) between April 2020 and November 2022. Blood measurement on admission to the ICU encompassed complete blood count (CBC), IL-6, C-reactive protein (CRP), albumin, lactate, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), serum bicarbonate, arterial base deficit/excess (BD/E), and D-dimer.
