Plastic pollution is an increasing stressor adding pressure on coral reefs. Microplastic (MP) affects photosynthetic performance and growth of corals and may lead to bleaching. Recent Findings: Recent research has identified several pivotal genetic mutations, including those in STAT3, DOCK8, and PGM3, which play critical roles in disrupting immune pathways such as Th17 differentiation and IgE regulation.

Delafossite CuFeO has emerged as a promising earth-abundant p-type photocathode for solar fuel generation due to its stability in aqueous conditions and its favorable light absorption characteristics. However, practical photocurrent generation in CuFeO has consistently fallen short of its theoretical potential. This limitation is attributed primarily to suboptimal practical visible light absorption, resulting in diminished incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE).

This study explores the development of a photo-responsive bicomponent electrospun platform and its drug delivery capabilities. This platform is composed of two polymers of poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) and poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV). Then, the platform is decorated with plasmonic gold nanostars (Au NSs) that are capable of on-demand drug release.
