In a national or global crisis, a healthcare system and its workforce should have the flexibility and resilience to deliver the required level of care for all its constituents. The current COVID-19 pandemic necessitated rapid decisions and early redeployment of staff to deliver essential healthcare. Having the dental team as part of this strategy would increase availability of healthcare workers. They have the potential to make a significant contribution as part of the medical workforce during national and global crises. The desirability of redeploying dentists at short notice is supported by several factors: they are accustomed to working in stressful situations, are effective communicators, are familiar with infection control procedures and work wearing PPE, are immunised and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)-checked, and undergo regular training in the management of medical emergencies. Dentists are also experienced in administrative tasks and have knowledge of legislation. They have additional resilience from working in different settings. They have the potential to make a significant contribution as part of the medical workforce during national and global crises.

Climate-driven changes in high-elevation forest distribution and reductions in snow and ice cover have major implications for ecosystems and global water security. In the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem of the Rocky Mountains (United States), recent melting of a high-elevation (3,091 m asl) ice patch exposed a mature stand of whitebark pine () trees, located ~180 m in elevation above modern treeline, that date to the mid-Holocene (c. 5,950 to 5,440 cal y BP).

The harlequin ladybird, , is a predatory beetle used globally to control pests such as aphids and scale insects. Originating from East Asia, this species has become highly invasive since its introduction in the late 19th century to Europe and North America, posing a threat to local biodiversity. Intraguild predation is hypothesized to drive the success of this invasive species, but the underlying mechanisms remain unknown.

There is a widespread perception that China's digital censorship distances its people from the global internet, and the Chinese Communist Party, through state-controlled media, is the main gatekeeper of information about foreign affairs. Our analysis of narratives about the Russo-Ukrainian War circulating on the Chinese social media platform Weibo challenges this view. Comparing narratives on Weibo with 8.

Dissolution of CO in water followed by the subsequent hydrolysis reactions is of great importance to the global carbon cycle, and carbon capture and storage. Despite numerous previous studies, the reactions are still not fully understood at the atomistic scale. Here, we combined ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations with Markov state models to elucidate the reaction mechanisms and kinetics of CO in supercritical water both in the bulk and nanoconfined states.

Cognition relies on transforming sensory inputs into a generalizable understanding of the world. Mirror neurons have been proposed to underlie this process, mapping visual representations of others' actions and sensations onto neurons that mediate our own, providing a conduit for understanding. However, this theory has limitations.
