Single-phase β-UO is synthesized by flash heating UO(NO)·6HO in air to 450 °C and annealing for 60 h under the same conditions. For the first time, we report the Raman spectra of pure β-UO. To facilitate the assignment of Raman and infrared vibrational modes, we use density functional theory with density functional perturbation theory. By employing a novel analysis scheme that includes the mode frequencies as well as a quantitative analysis of the mode eigenvectors, we assign the observed spectral features to individual chemical modes. In particular, the density functional theory optimized structure, observed Raman spectrum, and eigenvector analysis suggest the presence of four crystallographically distinct uranyl ions, one more than has previously been suggested.

Zebrafish are widely used in research, accounting for approximately 50% of all laboratory fish across Europe. Due to their rapid reproduction and aging, effective and practical euthanasia methods are necessary for managing large stocks. This study investigated whether adult zebrafish can be euthanised by delivering an electrical current directly via the water in their housing aquaria.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common form of oral cancer, with increasing global incidence and have poor prognosis. Tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are recognized as a key prognostic indicator and play a vital role in OSCC grading. However, current methods for TILs quantification are based on subjective visual assessments, leading to inter-observer variability and inconsistent diagnostic reproducibility.

Keto-enol tautomerism in organic molecules presents a potential for modulating the charge transport at the nanoscale. The reduction of the isomerization barrier and favoring the highly conductive enol form are the main challenges towards practical implementation of this phenomenon. Using density functional theory calculations, we have demonstrated that pyridinic nitrogen in biphenyl molecules with keto-enol tautomerism can successfully make the conductive enol form energetically more favorable.

Introduction: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the effects of combining omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs) supplementation with exercise training, as compared to exercise training alone, on body composition measures including body weight, body mass index (BMI), fat mass, body fat percentage, and lean body mass. Additionally, we determined the effects on cardiometabolic health outcomes including lipid profiles, blood pressure, glycemic markers, and inflammatory markers.

Method: Three primary electronic databases including PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus were searched from inception to April 5, 2023 to identify original articles comparing n-3 PUFA supplementation plus exercise training versus exercise training alone, that investigated at least one of the following outcomes: fat mass, body fat percentage, lean body mass, triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood pressures, fasting glucose and insulin, interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α).
