Background: Most people with a stoma are anxious about stoma-related leakage.
Aims: To investigate the impact of a novel digital leakage notification system on worry related to stoma leakage, and to evaluate the effect on overall stoma care management.
Method: A 12-week interventional, single-arm, multicentre study was conducted in the UK to evaluate the novel digital leakage notification system, including a telemedicine-based support service (=test product), as part of routine stoma care in patients with a recent stoma formation (ClinicalTrials.
Purpose: The study aims to address the gap between leaders' preventative self-regulatory focus and its impact on Chinese primary care physicians (PCPs) well-being, measured by work-family spillover stress and work exhaustion and on healthcare quality, measured by preventive service delivery and clinical guideline adherence.
Design/methodology/approach: This paper conducted a cross-sectional in-person survey with 38 leaders and 224 PCPs in 38 primary health centers (PHCs) in Jinan, Tianjin, Shenzhen and Shanghai. Guided by the regulatory focus theory, this paper built hierarchical linear regression models to examine the association between the leadership's regulatory focus and physician burnout, work-family conflict, clinic guideline adherence and preventive service delivery.

Background: Medicare Bayesian Improved Surname and Geocoding (MBISG), which augments an imperfect race-and-ethnicity administrative variable to estimate probabilities that people would self-identify as being in each of 6 mutually exclusive racial-and-ethnic groups, performs very well for Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AA&NHPI), Black, Hispanic, and White race-and-ethnicity, somewhat less well for American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN), and much less well for Multiracial race-and-ethnicity.
Objectives: To assess whether temporal inconsistency of self-reported race-and-ethnicity might limit improvements in approaches like MBISG.
Methods: Using the Medicare Health Outcomes Survey (HOS) baseline (2013-2018) and 2-year follow-up data (2015-2020), we evaluate the consistency of self-reported race-and-ethnicity coded 2 ways: the 6 mutually exclusive MBISG categories and individual endorsements of each racial-and-ethnic group.

Background: Dehumanization refers to the tendency of individuals or groups to attribute fewer human characteristics to other individuals or groups (referred to as hetero-dehumanization) or to themselves (referred to as self-dehumanization). This phenomenon currently seems to predominate in the medical and nursing professions. Indeed, healthcare environments facilitate latent forms of dehumanization due to their structure, organization, and inherent professional demands.

Background/objectives: High levels of emotional intelligence (EI) and resilience in primary care physicians (PCPs) can help them communicate better with patients, build stronger relationships with colleagues, and foster a positive and collaborative workplace. However, studies have indicated that primary care physicians (PCPs) often do not focus enough on developing these skills. Consequently, the purpose of this mixed methods study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an experiential online training (EOT) intervention in enhancing the EI and resilience of PCPs who treat patients with chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs).
