The information about concentration, sources, and pollution degree of heavy metals belong to deposited dust (DS) can be used for decision-making in air quality control, removal role of green space, and urban forest management. The objectives of the study were to identify and evaluate DS pollution degree with the introduction of a new index. DS samples were collected from five tree species. The concentration of heavy metals and pollution degree of DS were evaluated by enrichment factors (EF), geoaccumulation index (I), modified degrees of contamination (mC), and a new comprehensive index as weighted degree of contamination factor (wC). The values of EF showed that all samples were significant to extremely high enrichment and DS samples were emitted from anthropogenic activities. I values indicated that DS samples were polluted by Cd (80-97%) and Pb (100%). In addition, mC results showed more than 67% of samples were unpolluted. There was a clear fact that I results showed high pollution levels for Pb, Cd, and low for Ni, and the mCd results were incompatible with them. When all heavy metals were used without their importance to mC, calculation can cause bias from reality. For this reason, the new index was suggested as wC for all heavy metals that its results showed high to very high degree of pollution and that it was compatible with other indices results.

The traditional gelatin extraction methods (acid-base) may hinder to their green applications due to mass energy consumption and pollution. Herein, we constructed a clean and sustainable gelatin extraction method, investigated the molecular mechanism of microwave treatment (0-360 min) and freeze-thaw on the gelatin extraction from the perspective of the crosslinking degree and hydrogen bonds. Microwave (0-60 min) can improve the hydrolysis degree (DH) and expose more enzyme cleavage sites of collagen by destroying the intramolecular and intermolecular covalent crosslinking.

Electronic address:

The chlorinated paraffin (CP) monomer 1,2,5,6,9,10-Hexachlorodecane (CP-4) was subjected to in vitro biotransformation using human and carp liver microsomes. Five types of CP-4 metabolites (OH-, keto-, enol-, aldehyde- and carboxy-CP-4) were identified in human liver microsomer while only mono-OH-CP-4 was found in the carp liver microsomes. Kinetic studies revealed that the formation of mono-, di-, tri-hydroxylated CP-4, keto-, enol-, and aldehyde-CP-4 in human liver microsomes was best described by substrate inhibition models, whereas the formation of carboxylated CP-4 metabolites best fit the Michaelis-Menten model.

Plastic debris in coastal environments usually undergoes weathering due to various environmental conditions. However, the weathering effects on exposed and shaded sides of the same plastics are underexplored. In this study, 1573 plastic fragments were collected from 15 coastal sites worldwide between December 2021 and December 2022, and weathering experiments were conducted outdoors.
