Published: May 2020

Aim: To introduce an angled abutment transfer jig that splints abutments securely together to facilitate easy and quick orientation.

Background: Transferring angled abutments from cast to patients' mouth could be tasking and time-consuming. Transfer jigs are often used to facilitate orientation of abutments into implant fixtures. However, with the available jigs, abutments could move out of place and thus pose a hassle in repositioning.

Technique: This technical report introduces an angled abutment transfer jig that consists of two impression copings screwed onto angled abutments which are splinted together with red acrylic resin. Access to abutment screws is feasible through slots created in the impression copings.

Conclusion: The introduced jig is rigid and thus ensures very accurate and easy transfer of abutments into implants followed by accurate prosthesis seating.

Clinical Significance: This transfer jig design allows clinicians to transfer the orientation of angled abutments from cast to patients' mouth with optimal speed and precision.

Background: The Latarjet procedure is a common bony augmentation procedure for anterior shoulder instability. Historically, screw fixation is used to secure the coracoid graft to the anterior glenoid surface; however, malpositioning of the graft leads to oblique screw insertion that contributes to complications. Suture buttons (SBs) are a more recent fixation technique that have not been studied alongside standard screw fixation in the context of biomechanical models of angulated fixation.

A Metamaterial Surface Avoiding Loss from the Radome for a Millimeter-Wave Signal-Sensing Array Antenna.

Sensors (Basel)

February 2024

Department of Information & Telecommunication Engineering, Incheon National University, Incheon 22012, Republic of Korea.

Radar systems are a type of sensor that detects radio signals reflected from objects located a long distance from transmitters. For covering a longer range and a higher resolution in the operation of a radar, a high-frequency band and an array antenna are measures to take. Given a limited size to the antenna aperture in the front end of the radar, the choice of a millimeter-wave band leads to a denser layout for the array antenna and a higher antenna gain.

Background/purpose: Accuracy of using implant length on periapical radiographs as calibration reference for measurements has not been verified. This study aimed to verify the measurements of peri-implant crestal bone level (piCBL) on periapical radiographs taken by the paralleling technique and using the implant length for calibration; and to propose a customized crownlevel position (CLP) jig to improve the measurement accuracy of piCBL.

Materials And Methods: A typodont installed an implant and a screw-retained crown at maxillary central incisor was used.

Assessing Torque Transfer in Conduction System Pacing: Development and Evaluation of an Ex Vivo Model.

JACC Clin Electrophysiol

College of Medicine and Public Health, Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia; Department of Cardiac Electrophysiology, Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, Australia. Electronic address:

Background: Conduction system pacing (CSP) faces challenges in achieving reliable and safe deployments. Complex interactions between tissue and lead tip can result in endocardial entanglement, a drill effect that prevents penetration. No verified ex vivo model exists to quantitatively assess this relationship.

Universal fixation system for pad printing of plastic parts.

Math Biosci Eng

CIATEQ A.C. Centro de Tecnología Avanzada, Av. Manantiales #23-A, Parque Industrial Bernardo Quintana, El Marqués, Querétaro 76246, México.

Pad printing is used in automotive, medical, electrical and other industries, employing diverse materials to transfer a 2D image onto a 3D object with different sizes and geometries. This work presents a universal fixation system for pad printing of plastic parts (UFSP4) in response to the needs of small companies that cannot afford to invest in the latest technological advances. The UFSP4 comprises two main subsystems: a mechanical support system (i.
