This study explores the effects of the thermal stress, rotation, and magnetic fields on the propagation of surface waves in a symmetric five-layered inhomogeneous elastic plate. The harmonic wave solution was adopted to reduce the given partial differential equations to their corresponding ordinary differential equations, which were later solved using a classical method. The Mathematica software was also employed for the numerical simulations. The dispersion relations associated with both the symmetric and antisymmetric modes have been determined and analyzed with regard to the aforementioned external effects and rotation. The variations in thermal stress positively affect the wave propagation in the plate even for relatively smaller values of the temperature variation. Also, the same trend is observed in the case of the magnetic field, but for higher values. Finally, for the rotation, it was found that the angular velocity must reach at least 10 before a significant change is observed; which in fact differs from the situations of half-plane reflection and single-layered.

Marine heatwaves are increasing in intensity and frequency however, responses and survival of reef corals vary geographically. Geographical differences in thermal tolerance may be in part a consequence of intraspecific diversity, where high-diversity localities are more likely to support heat-tolerant alleles that promote survival through thermal stress. Here, we assessed geographical patterns of intraspecific genetic diversity in the ubiquitous coral Pocillopora damicornis species complex using 428 sequences of the Internal Transcribed Spacer 2 (ITS2) region across 44 sites in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

This work estimates Michaelis-Menten kinetics parameters for nutrient transport under varying flow rates in the soft roots of Indian mustard () using a plant fluidic device. To find the metallic components within the roots, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) analysis was performed. The flow rate-dependent metabolic changes were examined using Raman spectral analysis.

Sprouts and microgreens which belong to the Brassicaceae family contain significantly more glucosinolates than mature vegetables, and their composition often differs too. These plant growth stages can be a valuable supplement of the aforementioned compounds in the diet. The content and proportion of individual glucosinolates in sprouts and microgreens can be regulated by modifying the length and temperature of cultivation, the type of light, the use of mineral compounds, elicitation, primming, and cold plasma as well as storage conditions.

Janus graft copolymers, which combine the characteristics of block and graft copolymers, have been used in the fields of reaction catalysis, surface modification, and drug delivery, but their applications in lithium batteries have rarely been reported. Herein, Janus graft copolymers with polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polystyrene (PS) side chains are synthesized by combining reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) methods and doped with lithium salts to fabricate Janus bottlebrush polymer electrolytes (PEG-J-PS). The PEG side chains of the brush polymers impart good ion-conducting properties to the electrolytes, while the PS side chains improve the mechanical strength and thermal and chemical stability of the electrolytes.

This study aims to investigate the effects of material compatibility, variable cooling rates, and crown geometry on thermal stress development in porcelain-veneered lithium disilicate (PVLD) and porcelain-veneered zirconia (PVZ) dental crown systems, and subsequently anticipate parameters for their optimum performance. An anatomically correct 3D crown model was developed from STL files generated using 3D scans of the experimental crown sample. Next, the viscoelastic finite element model (VFEM) based on the 3D crown model was developed and validated for anatomically correct bilayer PVLD and PVZ crown systems.
