The effects of synthetic methods, modulator types, the content of the modulator, and reaction time on the size and morphology of a microscale Zn-MOF containing dual Lewis basic amino and carbonyl groups, namely [Zn(NH-bdc)(4,4'-bpy)] {NH-Hbdc = 2-amino-1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid and 4,4'-bpy = 4,4'-bipyridine}, were systemically investigated. Uniform octahedral microparticles of Zn-MOF with an average size of 1.7 μm were obtained within an hour at ambient temperature under ultrasound irradiation using sodium acetate as a modulating agent. Interestingly, Zn-MOF has been demonstrated for the dual-functional fluorescent detection of Al and methanol based on a fluorescent turn-on strategy. Very low detection limits (LODs) for Al and methanol were achieved using microcrystalline Zn-MOF and reached 30 nM and 0.7% (v/v), respectively. In comparison to the larger size of the polycrystalline Zn-MOF, the microparticles obtained from the ultrasonic route exhibited an improvement in the detection sensitivity. The dual uncoordinated Lewis basic sites play an important role in the sensitivity and selectivity of the detection. Additionally, the fluorogenic change in the sensing process can be observed by the naked eye under UV-light, allowing preliminary on-field screening.

Perpendicular nanochannel creation of two-dimensional (2D) nanostructures requires highly controlled anisotropic drilling processes of the entire structure via void formation. However, chemical approaches for the creation of porosity and defects of 2D nanostructures have been challenging due to the strong basal plane chemical stability and the use of harsh reactants, tending to give randomly corroded 2D structures. In this study, we introduce Lewis acid-base conjugates (LABCs) as molecular drillers with attenuated chemical reactivity which results in the well-defined perpendicular nanochannel formation of 2D TiS nanoplates.

Background: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) may increase the risk for adolescent sleep disturbances, though the impact of race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status (SES) remains unclear.
Objective: We sought to determine the direct and moderating impact of race, ethnicity, family SES, and community SES on sleep disturbances across early adolescence for ACE-exposed youth.
Participants And Setting: This secondary analysis used longitudinal Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study® data (2016-2022) from youth who experienced ≥1 ACE by age 9-10 years.
