Recent progress in optical fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometers (MZIs) has gained many achievements in sensing application. However, the strain sensitivity of optical fiber MZIs is low due to the low elasto-optical coefficient of silica. In this Letter, we propose and demonstrate a method to modulate the guided modes in an MZI based on a special hollow core microstructured optical fiber (HCMOF) by fabricating periodical deformations. Specifically, periodical deformations reduce the extinction ratio of the transmission spectrum. Furthermore, the axial tension modulates these periodical deformations, leading to the enhanced strain sensitivity in comparison to the configuration without deformations. In our experiment, the strain response from 0 to 1000µε is obtained with a sensitivity of 0.00359/µε corresponding to an improvement of 13 times compared with a sensor based on same HCMOF without deformations.

Introduction: This study aims to investigate the presence of class 1, 2, and 3 integrons in Acinetobacter baumannii isolates, evaluate the relationship between integrons and antibiotic resistance and determine the clonal relationship between isolates by PFGE method.
Methodology: A total of 188 A. baumannii strains between February 2020 and March 2023 were included in the study.

Introduction: Antimicrobial resistance remains a global threat with increasing morbidity and mortality rates. The aim of this study was to identify the antimicrobial resistance trends among ESKAPE pathogens (Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter spp.) isolated from clinical samples at a Health Practice and Research Hospital over five years.

Introduction: Escherichia coli has emerged as an important pathogen in urinary tract infections (UTIs) due to the rapid acquisition of antibiotic resistance genes. This enhances the ability of E. coli to colonize and creates therapeutic challenges within the healthcare system.

Purpose: To determine whether corneal biomechanical parameters can predict ectasia progression.
Study Design: Retrospective observational study.
Methods: The baseline corneal biomechanical parameters of 64 eyes of 41 young patients (age, < 25 years at the first visit) who were diagnosed with keratoconus (KC) or suspected KC at Osaka University Hospital and followed up for more than two years were reviewed.

Aims: There are few data on the prognostic impact of pulmonary-right ventricular (RV) uncoupling in patients with wild-type transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTRwt-CM).
Methods And Results: Among the 174 patients who were diagnosed with ATTRwt-CM at Kumamoto University Hospital from 2002 to 2021, 143 patients who met the current Japanese guideline and had sufficient information for two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography were retrospectively analysed. During a median follow-up of 1209 days, 39 cardiac deaths occurred.
