Following the format put forth by Imber-Black and Roberts, I examine daily rituals, family traditions, holidays, and life cycle rituals during the pandemic of COVID-19. Marked by symbols capable of carrying multiple meanings, symbolic actions, special time and special place, and newly invented and adapted rituals are illustrated through stories of couples, families, and communities.

Existing within hierarchical kinship networks, requiring patronage of gurus, hijras, a 'third' gender community, undergo mandatory apprenticeship to a commune life through a discipleship-lineage system where castration is seen as a necessary truth and final rite of passage to achieve a virtuous hijra identity. This article examines the subjectivities of hijras from working-class backgrounds and narrows its focus to analyse how individual hijras develop an understanding of themselves from their occupied subject positions in the larger hijra community shaped by internal hijra cultural traditions (parampara) manifested through rituals of harm. Based on long-term ethnographic fieldwork of 10 years in New Delhi and its neighbouring states, this article discusses the genealogies of wound cultures through castration in the hijra community acquired through their experiential and vernacular knowledge systems of self-flagellation as a practice of ethical self-making for their sacred rebirth in a nirvana (a state of freedom from all suffering) body.

Though the United Nations deals with its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in blocs of 15 years at a time, "sustainable" indicates a longer-term focus, aiming at steady human progress, including in public health and welfare. But the alcohol history in many countries shows "long waves" of consumption, repetitively rising, then falling, then rising again. This study, conducted in 2020, investigates the impact of health restrictions on funeral rites during the COVID-19 pandemic in Chile, based on the experience of women who took part in these rites. Using Antigone's tragedy as a theoretical framework, it explores the tension between the moral law of honoring the deceased and the universal law manifested in pandemic-related restrictions-four semi-structured online interviews with women in Santiago who engaged in adapted funeral practices. The qualitative analysis revealed that participants developed innovative rituals to maintain the dignity of farewells and reintegrate the deceased into public and symbolic spheres, such as virtual gatherings and personalized tributes.

Smallholder farmers in most of the rural areas in African countries rear non-descript village chickens for petty cash, food provision and for performing rituals. Village chicken production systems are regarded as low input- low output because the chickens receive minimum care and produce average to less eggs and meat. The chickens receive minimal biosecurity and are often left to scavenge for feed and thus exposes them to potential vector parasites that can transmit parasites such as haemoparasites.

Fabricating visible-light-responsive metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with high stability and effective catalytic functionality remains a long-term pursuit yet a great challenge. Herein, a strategy of increasing ligand and cluster connectivity is developed to construct highly stable fluorescein MOFs, La-CFL, presenting a new (4,8)-connected topological structure compared to Cd-FL constructed using 6-connected dinuclear clusters and 3-connected tritopic ligands. La(CFL) containers like Chinese "Ritual Wine Vessels (Jue)" resemble linear arrangements interconnected by the [La(COO)] clusters.
