The acquisition and utilization of cell walls have fundamentally shaped the plant lifestyle. While the walls provide mechanical strength and enable plants to grow and occupy a three-dimensional space, successful sessile life also requires the walls to undergo dynamic modifications to accommodate size and shape changes accurately. Plant cell walls exhibit substantial mechanical heterogeneity due to the diverse polysaccharide composition and different development stages.

Paracetamol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are frequently used during pregnancy. Due to their fetotoxicity, NSAIDs are contraindicated during the third trimester. There is ongoing controversy about the extent to which NSAIDs may cause cardiovascular and renal impairment in the fetus earlier in the second trimester.

Despite significant advancements in bioimaging technology, only a limited number of fluorophores are currently approved for clinical applications. Indocyanine green (ICG) is the first FDA-approved near-infrared (NIR) fluorophore and has significantly advanced clinical interventions over the past three decades. However, its single-channel imaging at 800 nm emission is often insufficient for capturing comprehensive diagnostic information during surgery.

During the last decade, artificial intelligence (AI) was applied to nearly all domains of human activity, including scientific research. It is thus warranted to ask whether AI thinking should be durably involved in biomedical research. This problem was addressed by examining three complementary questions (i) What are the major barriers currently met by biomedical investigators? It is suggested that during the last 2 decades there was a shift towards a growing need to elucidate complex systems, and that this was not sufficiently fulfilled by previously successful methods such as theoretical modeling or computer simulation (ii) What is the potential of AI to meet the aforementioned need? it is suggested that recent AI methods are well-suited to perform classification and prediction tasks on multivariate systems, and possibly help in data interpretation, provided their efficiency is properly validated.
