Paratuberculosis is a chronic granulomatous enteritis, caused by subspecies (), that affects ruminants worldwide. Vaccination has been considered the most cost-effective method for the control of this disease in infected dairy herds. However, currently available vaccines do not provide complete protection and interfere with the diagnosis of both paratuberculosis and bovine tuberculosis, limiting its use.

The evaluation of vancomycin hypersensitivity reactions is challenging, as skin testing is not validated. Intradermal testing with vancomycin in human serum albumin-based sterile saline could be a new approach to the evaluation of IgE-independent hypersensitivity reactions.

MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane and Google Scholar databases were searched, identifying seven relevant studies. Study information, patient characteristics, key results and methodological weaknesses were tabulated.
