Angelica sinensis polysaccharide as potential protectants against recurrent spontaneous abortion: focus on autophagy regulation.

Front Med (Lausanne)

January 2025

Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Medicine, Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, China.

Introduction: Recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) represents a significant clinical challenge, with its underlying mechanisms yet to be fully elucidated. Despite advances in understanding, the precise pathophysiology driving RSA remains unclear. Angelica sinensis, a traditional herbal remedy, is frequently used as an adjunctive treatment for miscarriage.

The Role of Dectin-1-Akt-RNF146 Pathway in β-Glucan Induced Immune Trained State of Monocyte in Sepsis.

J Inflamm Res

January 2025

Department of Anesthesiology, Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University, Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center, Department of Oncology, Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Perioperative Stress and Protection, Shanghai, People's Republic of China.

Background: Sepsis is regarded as a dysregulated immune response to infections. Recent study showed partially reversal of immunosuppression by trained immunity, which fosters an enhanced immune response towards a secondary challenge. However, the role of trained immunity in sepsis has not been fully understood.

Transformation of Distinct Superatoms to Superalkalis by Successive Ligation of Thymine Nucleobases.

J Phys Chem A

January 2025

Fujian Key Laboratory of Drug Target Discovery and Structural and Functional Research, Higher Educational Key Laboratory for Nano Biomedical Technology of Fujian Province, The School of Pharmacy, Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou, Fujian 350108, People's Republic of China.

The ligation strategy has been widely used in the chemical synthesis of atomically precise clusters. A series of thymine (T)-ligated Al-T ( = Be, Al, C; = 1-5) complexes have been studied to reveal the effect of DNA nucleobase ligands on the electronic structures of different superatoms in the present work. In addition to its protective role, the successive attachment of thymine ligands significantly lowers the adiabatic ionization energies (AIEs) of the studied Al superatoms with filled and unfilled electronic shells.

DL-3-n-butylphthalide (NBP) exhibits promising pharmacological efficacy against ischemia-reperfusion injury, but its protective effects may involve many mechanisms that are yet to be fully understood. This study aimed to profile the metabolic alterations induced by NBP during the process of ischemia-reperfusion using spatial metabolomics. Our study found that NBP could significantly reduce the ischemic area and restore physical function by potentially modulating pathways of the citrate cycle, pyruvate metabolism, autophagy, and unsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis.

Based on the observation that urea, water, and ethyl esters (EE) can form gypsum-like mixtures, this study explored the feasibility of employing water as a solvent for urea in the urea complexation method to enrich n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)-containing ethyl esters (DHA- EE) from Crypthecodinium cohnii as the material. Under the conditions of a urea/DHA-EE ratio of 3, a water/DHA-EE ratio of 0.75, a mixing temperature of 65℃, and a cooling temperature of 20℃, a concentrate containing over 90% DHA was achieved.
